May retail inflation marginally rises to 3.93%, food inflation at 4.78%

India’s retail inflation marginally rose in May, with the Consumer Price Index (CPI)-based inflation rising to 3.93 per cent from 3.48 per cent in April, according to data released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI).

The increase was driven largely by a rise in food inflation, which climbed to 4.78 per cent in May from 4.20 per cent in April.
