GST revenue collection falls to ₹86,449 crores in August

According to Finance Ministry, GST revenue collection in August stood at ₹86,449 crores which is 88% collected in August 2019. After settlement for inter-state transactions, centre collected revenue of ₹34,122 cr while states collected ₹35,714 cr in August

139,123 people died by suicide & 421,104 were killed in accidents, according to the Accidental Deaths and Suicides in India report for 2019 released by NCRB. In 2018-19, number of people dying in accidents increased by 2.3% while for suicides it was 3.4%.

Indian Astronomers discover one of the farthest Star galaxies in the universe

India’s first Multi-Wavelength Space Observatory AstroSat detected extreme-UV light from a galaxy named AUDFs01, located 9.3 billion light-years away from Earth. It was discovered by a team of astronomers led by Dr Kanak Saha from the IUCAA Pune.

India received 4th highest rainfall in 120 yrs in August 2020

According to IMD India received 27% more rainfall than normal in August. Overall rainfall recorded from June 1 to August 31 was 10% more than normal. Rainfall recorded in August 2020 is the fourth highest in the last 120 years and the highest in 44 years.
