Partition Horrors Remembrance Day

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has asked all Universities and Colleges to observe August 14 as Partition Horrors Remembrance Day. They have been asked to organize programmes and seminars to commemorate the sufferings and sacrifices of millions of Indians during the partition in 1947.

Lumpy skin disease spreading among cattle in Rajasthan

Lumpy disease is spreading rapidly in Rajasthan and more than eight thousand cattles have died so far. More than one lakh 60 thousand cattles have been infected with lumpy skin disease in the state. Out of these, about 54 thousand cattles have been recovered. The infection has spread in 17 districts of the state.

Jagdeep Dhankhar elected as 14th Vice President of India

West Bengal Governor and National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate Jagdeep Dhankhar was elected as India’s 14th Vice-President. Dhankhar will take oath of office on August 11. He will be appointed the ex-officio Chairman of the Rajya Sabha. Dhankhar received 528 votes defeating the opposition’s candidate, Margaret Alva, who got 182 votes.

Indian team wins silver in men's fours lawn bowls
