The Minister reflected on India’s remarkable growth in the startup sector, which has expanded from just 350 to 400 startups in 2014 to over 1.67 lakh making the country the third-largest startup ecosystem globally. VISION are integral to realizing the country’s aspirations under Vision India 2047, which aims to position India as a global leader in technology, education.

RBI and Maldives Monetary Authority Sign MoU to promote use of local currencies in cross-border transactions

Reserve Bank of India and the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a framework for promoting the use of local currencies Indian Rupee and Maldivian Rufiyaa in cross-border transactions. The MoU was signed by RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das and MMA Governor Ahmed Munawar in Mumbai.

India, Australia sign air-to-air refuelling agreement for defence

Australia and India took their cooperation a step further. The two nations signed an arrangement allowing the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) and the Indian armed forces to conduct air-to-air refuelling. Under the agreement, the RAAF’s KC-30A Multi-Role Tanker Transport will be able to refuel Indian aircraft that have entered airspace near Australia.

According to Report, India has about 150 insurtech companies, with 10 unicorns and "soonicorns" and over 45 "minicorns" with a 12 times increase in revenue over the past five years to reach USD 750 million. Cumulative funding has surpassed USD 2.5 billion, bringing the total ecosystem valuation to over USD 13.6 billion, the report said.
