Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh today inaugurated the "Viksit Bharat Initiative for Student Innovation and Outreach Network" (VISION), aimed at nurturing education, skill development, and innovation among underprivileged children.
The Minister reflected on India’s remarkable growth in the startup sector, which has expanded from just 350 to 400 startups in 2014 to over 1.67 lakh making the country the third-largest startup ecosystem globally. VISION are integral to realizing the country’s aspirations under Vision India 2047, which aims to position India as a global leader in technology, education.

Bihar will host the Khelo India Youth Games 2025 in April next year. A flagship event of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Bihar will be a new addition to the Khelo India map of the country. For the first time and in the lines of the Summer Olympics, the Khelo India Para Games will also be held in Bihar.
The Para Games will follow the youth Games and there will be a 10 to 15 days gap between the two Games. The first edition of the Para Games was held in Delhi last year. Reserve Bank of India and the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a framework for promoting the use of local currencies Indian Rupee and Maldivian Rufiyaa in cross-border transactions. The MoU was signed by RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das and MMA Governor Ahmed Munawar in Mumbai.
The MoU encourages the use of Indian Rupee (INR) and Maldivian Rufiyaa (MVR) in current account transactions, permissible capital account transactions, and any other economic or financial transactions agreed upon by both countries.
Central Bank of India has got approval from the Reserve Bank to enter the insurance business through a joint venture with Generali group under FGIICL and FGILICL. In a filing to stock exchanges, the state-owned bank said the RBI accorded the approval vide a letter dated November 21, 2024.
In October, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) had cleared the Central Bank of India's proposed acquisition of stakes in Future Generali India Insurance Company Ltd (FGIICL) and Future Generali India Life Insurance Company Ltd (FGILICL). FGIICL provides personal insurance, commercial insurance, social, and rural insurance, among others.
The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has given a go-ahead to Hinduja Group firm IIHL for acquisition of debt-ridden Reliance Capital Ltd (RCAP). DPIIT approval was required as some of the shareholders of IndusInd International Holdings Ltd (IIHL) are residents of Hong Kong, a special administrative region controlled by China.
According to Press Note 3, if an entity from a nation sharing a land border with India (China, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Bhutan, Nepal, Myanmar, and Afghanistan), or if a citizen or permanent resident of any such country is the beneficial owner of an investment in India, they are required to pursue investment through the government approval route.
The approval was crucial as the Hinduja Group should close the transaction by the extended deadline of January 31, 2025. Failure to meet the deadline would require the group to return Rs 3,000 crore raised from high-net-worth individuals (HNIs), ultra-HNIs, and family offices for the deal.
Australia and India took their cooperation a step further. The two nations signed an arrangement allowing the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) and the Indian armed forces to conduct air-to-air refuelling. Under the agreement, the RAAF’s KC-30A Multi-Role Tanker Transport will be able to refuel Indian aircraft that have entered airspace near Australia.

Indian insurtech sector has mobilised USD 2.5 billion over the years and the industry is expected to attract more investment in the future as there are significant growth opportunities in the space, according to Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and India InsurTech Association (IIA) report.
According to Report, India has about 150 insurtech companies, with 10 unicorns and "soonicorns" and over 45 "minicorns" with a 12 times increase in revenue over the past five years to reach USD 750 million. Cumulative funding has surpassed USD 2.5 billion, bringing the total ecosystem valuation to over USD 13.6 billion, the report said.
