BRO constructs 63 critical bridges for movement of heavy weapon systems

To ensure unhindered movement of heavy weapon systems, including guns, tanks and other specialized equipment, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has constructed 63 critical bridges in the bordering areas extending to six states and two Union Territories.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh virtually inaugurated the 63 bridges at an event held at Kyungam, 88 km from Leh.

The world’s second youngest Grandmaster D. Gukesh has won the $15,000 Gelfand Challenge chess title.

With this win, the 15-year-old Gukesh has also secured a 'wild card' for the elite Meltwater Champions Chess Tour.

Chennai-based Gukesh and his compatriot Praggnanandhaa, tied with 14 points in 19 rounds, but Gukesh won the tournament on tiebreak.

Rafael unveils Sea Breaker AI missile with 300 km range

Israeli defense electronics company Rafael Advanced Defense Systems unveiled Sea Breaker, a 5th generation long range, autonomous, precision-guided missile system, which can precisely target sea and land targets up to a range of 300 kilometers.

Sea Breaker can be launched from naval platforms, varying in size, and from fast attack missile boats, to corvettes and frigates.

Asia’s longest high-speed test track NATRAX is now in India

Prakash Javadekar inaugurated Natrax- High-Speed Track (HST) in Indore. Claimed to be the fifth-longest high-speed test track in the world, the NATRAX has been built on 1,000 acres.

Natrax test-track is 11.3 km long, 16 metre wide, and has 14 different types of tracks, including braking track, wet pad, sustainability track, handling track, and more.

Abhimanyu Mishra is now the world's youngest chess grandmaster. The tween from New Jersey, all of 12 years, 4 months and 25 days, broke Sergey Karjakin's 19-year-old record with a third norm in Budapest.

Karjakin, who was a world championship challenger to Magnus Carlsen in 2016, had earned his GM title at 12 years, 7 months.

World Bank Approves $500 M Program To Support India’s Large Informal Workforce

The World Bank Board of Executive Directors approved a $500 million program to support India’s large informal workforce and create greater flexibility for states to cope with the ongoing pandemic, future climate, and disaster shocks.

Of the $500 million commitment, $112.50 million will be financed by a credit from the International Development Association (IDA).

IPS officer Mukul Goel named new DGP of UP

The Uttar Pradesh government named Mukul Goel, a 1987-batch IPS officer, the new Director General of Police.

Goel, who is currently on deputation and serving as the additional director general of Border Security Force (BSF) in Delhi, replaced Hitesh Chandra Awasthy, who retired from the services.

State Bank of India (SBI) celebrates 66th Foundation Day | July 1

The oldest commercial bank in the country, State Bank of India, celebrated its 66th year. SBI descends from the Bank of Calcutta founded in 1806 through the Imperial Bank of India.

The Bank of Madras merged into the other two presidency banks, the bank of Calcutta and the bank of Bombay to form the Imperial Bank of India which in turn became the SBI on 1st July 1955.
