International Animation Day 2022 | 28th October

International Animation Day is celebrated on 28 October every year since the year 2002.The International Animated Film Association declared the International Animation Day. This day recognises the main open execution of Charles-Emile Reynaud’s Theatre Optique at the Grevin Museum in Paris, 1892. IAD was started by ASIFA, an individual from UNESCO.

Tata and Airbus to make C-295MW transport aircraft for IAF in Vadodara

India’s Tata group and Airbus will make the C-295 transport aircraft in the country, the government said, the first such production by a local private company amid a push for an expansion of defence manufacturing.

Airbus will deliver 16 aircraft in flyaway condition between September next year and August 2025, while the rest will be made by Tata group.

Indian Navy, Drone Federation to jointly develop advanced maritime UAVs

The Technology Development and Acceleration Cell (TDAC) of the Naval Innovation Indigenisation Organisation (NIIO) under the Indian Navy and Drone Federation of India (DFI) have joined hands to collaboratively work towards promoting indigenous development, manufacturing and testing of a drone, counter-drone, and associated technologies for the Navy.

97% phones used in country are made in India: Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar

In 2014, over 92 percent of mobile phones used in India were imported, today over 97 percent of mobile phones used in India are made in India. Today we export electronic devices worth $12 billion (roughly Rs. 98,800 crore), MoS Rajeev Chandrasekhar said.

Foreign reinsurers can repatriate up to 20% of assigned capital: IRDAI

Insurance sector regulator Irdai has allowed foreign reinsurance branches, including Lloyd's India, to repatriate up to 20% of the excess assigned capital to attract more players and allow free movement of capital.As per Irdai norms, the registration of branch offices of foreign reinsurers other than Lloyd's have 'assigned capital' and net owned funds (NOFs) as the capital.

Indian Railways to observe a month long Mega Safety Drive from 28th October

Ministry of Railways has directed Zonal Railways to launch a month long safety drive w.e.f. 28.10.2022 to remove any gaps in maintenance of fixed assets, locomotives and rolling stock and strengthening safety on Indian Railways. Centre approves Terai Elephant Reserve in Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh is all set to get a new elephant reserve soon, as the Union ministry of forest, environment and climate change (MoFECC) has given its nod to the Terai Elephant Reserve (TER), which will be spread in a 3,049 sq km area, including Dudhwa Tiger Reserve (DTR) and Pilibhit Tiger Reserve (PTR). It will be the second elephant reserve in UP and India's 33rd.

DGCA issues aerodrome licence for GMR group-run Mopa airport in Goa

Aviation watchdog Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has given the aerodrome licence for the new airport at Mopa in Goa, paving the way for starting commercial flights operations from there soon.The Mopa airport, will be operated by GMR group. This will be the second airport in Goa, where already there is an operational airport at Dabolim in Mormugao city.
