Vir Das Wins Maiden International Emmy Award For Best Comedy Series

Actor-comic Vir Das won the International Emmy Award for his stand-up special 'Vir Das: Landing' in the best comedy series category.

This was the second nomination and maiden win in the segment for Das, who shared the trophy with popular British teen sitcom 'Derry Girls' season three.

The awards ceremony was held in New York.

ICC Introduces Stop Clock In Men's ODI And T20Is, Five-Run Penalty On Third Offence

The CEC agreed to introduce a stop clock on a trial basis in men's ODI and T20I cricket from December 2023 to April 2024. The clock will be used to regulate the amount of time taken between overs.

The decision was taken at the International Cricket Council (ICC) Board meeting.

It will be used on a trial basis initially.

ICC Moves Men's U19 World Cup From Sri Lanka To South Africa

The U19 World Cup has been shifted to South Africa from Sri Lanka due to SLC's suspension. In fact, participating nations were apprised some days back after SLC got suspended. South Africa hosted the U19 WC in 2020.

U19 World Cup is scheduled to be held from January 13 to Feb 4 2024.

In U19 World Cup 2022, held in West Indies, India beat England in final to win 5th title.

Dr S S Badrinath, founder of Sankara Nethralaya, passes away

Dr Sengamedu Srinivasa Badrinath, one of India’s topmost ophthalmologists and founder of Sankara Nethralaya, passed away. He was 83.

The renowned eye doctor, who was awarded Padma Shri in 1983 and Padma Bhushan in 1999, was born in Triplicane, Chennai, on February 24, 1940.

Badrinath rose to the call, creating the iconic Sankara Nethrayala in 1978.

Indian Armed Forces Contingent Departs for Joint Military Exercise "AUSTRAHIND-23"

The Indian Armed Forces contingent comprising of 81 personnel departed for Australia today to take part in the second edition of Joint Military Exercise AUSTRAHIND-23.

The exercise will be conducted at Perth, Australia from 22nd November to 06th December 2023.

Exercise AUSTRAHIND was instituted in 2022 and the first edition was conducted in Mahajan, Rajasthan.
