APEDA signs MoU with ICAR-IIMR to boost millet exports

The key focus of the MoU would be to promote commercial cultivation of processable varieties developed by ICAR-Indian Institute of Millet Research (ICAR-IIMR) for exports which are expected to promote value addition of millets, a cereal with high nutritive value. A joint coordination committee with representatives from APEDA and ICAR-IIMR would be set up.

India, Nepal sign pacts to reconstruct over 100 projects damaged by 2015 earthquake

India and Nepal signed MoUs for the reconstruction of 14 cultural heritage and 103 health sector projects damaged by the devastating 2015 earthquake in the country. These projects will be reconstructed at a cost of 420 crore Nepalese Rupees ($36 million). CLPIU (Building), Nepal is the implementing agency for both health and cultural heritage sector projects.

Indian data centre industry capacity to double by 2023: JLL

Driven by growth in digitalisation, rising cloud adoption and ambitious growth plans of operators, India’s data centre industry is expected to double capacity and cross the 1GW mark by 2023, according to the 'H1 2021 India Data Centre Market Update' report by JLL. The industry capacity is expected to double from 499MW in H1 2021 to 1008 MW by 2023.

Modern warfare equipments displayed at 7th International Military-Technical Forum "Army-2021"

The 7th International Military-Technical Forum "Army-2021" concluded recently in Moscow in which new warfare equipment were displayed. Over 1500 Russian and foreign companies presented their inventions in the defence field at the week-long Forum. The Forum showcased drones, trainings to control new generation weapons, K-27 helicopter training module and Kalashnikov rifles.

Zerodha gets SEBI's approval to set up an AMC

The in-principle approval from SEBI will allow Zerodha to launch its own mutual funds. In December 2019, SEBI eased regulations for fintech startups planning to enter the MF industry. It said entities with a net worth of Rs 100 crore and five years of being profitable were eligible to sponsor MFs. AMCs should also maintain their minimum net worth continuously.

Google Pay launches digital Fixed Deposits in tie-up with Equitas Small Finance Bank

In an industry-first, consumers can through the Google Pay app book high-interest rate FDs fully digitally - without needing to open a savings account with Equitas Bank on its own Spot integrated with the Google Pay platform. South Korea becomes world’s first country to frame legislation that forces Apple, Google to allow third-party app store payments

The legislation forces both Apple and Google to change their policies for app marketplaces that currently reject payments systems from third parties. The bill will put a damper on proprietary billing systems that both companies have managed for their operating systems. Any third-party developer will be able to push its own payments system and both companies have to allow it

Govt appoints Atul Bhatt as CMD of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd

India accounts for 34% of global coconut production: Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar

The Minister said production during 2020-21 was 21,207 million nuts which account for more than 34 per cent of the global production. The productivity has been recorded at 9,687 nuts per hectare which is the highest in the world. Sushri Shobha Karandlaje, the MoS for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, called upon farmers to give a major thrust to product diversification.
