Well-known Malayalam writer Benyamin has bagged the 45th Vayalar Ramavarma Memorial Literary Award for his book "Manthalirile 20 Communist Varshangal". The prestigious award, instituted by the Vayalar Ramavarma Memorial Trust, comprises a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, a sculpture designed by renowned sculptor Kanayi Kunhiraman and a citation.

The Reserve Bank of India's Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) decided to maintain status quo and keep the repo rate unchanged at 4%. Well-known Telugu filmmaker B Gopal, alias Bejawada Gopal, has been chosen for the fourth Satyajit Ray Award for his overall contribution to Indian cinema. He offers free legal advice and helps refugees apply for asylum and find shelter, work, and access to education and medical assistance.
The UNHCR said Kovacevic has represented nearly one-third of all of the asylum seekers.

Union Minister of Civil Aviation virtually inaugurated the greenfield Sindhudurg airport in Maharashtra & also flagged off the first flight from Sindhudurg to Mumbai under the RCS-UDAN (Regional Connectivity Scheme - Ude Desh Ka Aam Naagrik) scheme of the Government of India. The airport is spread over 275 hectares area.

Union Finance Minister announced in Guwahati that the Government of India has approved the construction of a 3 km long 4-lane bridge on the Brahmaputra river in the Kamrup district. The bridge will facilitate direct connectivity to the internationally renowned silk town of Sualkuchi and the industrial region of Amingaon with Guwahati and the International airport.
The bridge will be constructed at an estimated total cost of Rs 3094 crores.
