The 52nd GST Council meeting was held in New Delhi under the Chairmanship of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The meeting was attended by Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary along with Finance Ministers of States and Union Territories.
The 52nd GST Council on October 7 came out with an Amnesty scheme, giving taxpayers time till the 31st of January 2024, to file appeals against demand orders passed by tax officers till March 2023. As per the GST law, an assessee can file an appeal against an assessment order seeking taxes within three months of the tax officer passing such an order.

Unemployment rate in India fell to 7.1 per cent in September 2023 from 8.1 per cent in August, according to CMIE’s Consumer Pyramids Household Survey. The unemployment rate eased in both rural and urban India. It came alongside a fall in labour participation rate (LPR). The LPR climbed down from 41.2 per cent in August to 40.9 per cent in September.
