The IndiaAI Mission, under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Karya, a nonprofit organisation that works to increase accessibility of the AI economy.
The organizations together will work on strengthening India’s inclusive artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem through collaboration in data, technology, and capacity building.
The MoU is focused on the development, curation, and sharing of high-quality language and multimodal datasets to support inclusive and representative AI systems.
The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved a Scheme for Promotion of Surface Coal/Lignite Gasification Projects with a financial outlay of Rs.37,500 crore.
The Scheme marks a major step towards accelerating India’s coal/lignite gasification programme, advancing the national target of gasifying 100 Million Tonnes (MT) of coal by 2030,
strengthening energy security, and reducing dependence on imports of key products such as LNG (more than 50% imported), urea (~20% imported), ammonia (~100% imported), and methanol (~80–90% imported).
The Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (IEPFA), under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Public Service broadcaster Prasar Bharati to strengthen nationwide investor awareness initiatives through the dissemination of informative scroll messages on Doordarshan across National and Regional channels.
The MoU signing event was presided over by Smt Anita Shah Akella, CEO IEPFA and Joint Secretary Ministry of Corporate Affairs, who underscored the importance of collaborative public outreach initiatives in strengthening investor awareness and promoting financial literacy among citizens across the country.
Through this initiative, IEPFA seeks to empower investors with timely and accurate information, encouraging them to utilize facilities such as the Search Facility and file claims through Form IEPF-5. The campaign will also focus on spreading awareness about fraud prevention and the importance of safe investing practices.
The Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER), Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, together with Chief Minister of Mizoram Shri Lalduhoma launched the Mizoram Ginger Mission, a Rs. 189.79 crore convergence-led initiative for Ginger Cultivation & Value Chain Development for the State of Mizoram.

The Minister highlighted that the Mission will deliver one integrated Processing Hub and three Spoke centres, over 30 strategic interventions, and the integration of nearly 20,000 farming households into a unified value-chain ecosystem built on traceability, distinctiveness, quality assurance, and farmer-led value creation.
Situating the Mission within the larger vision of "Brand North East" with one USP for each State like Sikkim as Organic State, Kiwi of Arunachal Pradesh, Queen Pineapple of Tripura, Coffee of Nagaland and Lakadong Turmeric from Meghalaya.
In a historic development for India’s maritime sector, a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on 20 April 2026 between HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering Co., Ltd. (HD KSOE), a global leader in shipbuilding; National Shipbuilding & Heavy Industries Park, Tamil Nadu Limited (NSHIP-TN),

The Thoothukudi Greenfield Shipyard represents one of the earliest implementation outcomes under the India-ROK maritime cooperation framework and reflects the growing strategic partnership between the two countries in the maritime domain.

India has banned the export of sugar till September 30 2026, with immediate effect, a move which would help enhance domestic availability and contain prices.
Earlier the exports were under a restricted category, under which a license was required for the outbound shipments.
“The export policy of Sugar (Raw Sugar, White Sugar and Refined Sugar)... is amended from ‘Restricted’ to ‘Prohibited’ with immediate effect till September 30, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier,” the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) said in a notification dated May 13.
This order, however, does not apply to sugar being exported to the European Union and the US under the CXL and Tariff Rate Quota (TRQ) arrangement, respectively. The arrangements allow exporters to ship specified quantities of sugar to these destinations at significantly reduced or zero customs duties.
The DGFT’s order is also not applicable to the shipments under the advance authorisation scheme, government-to-government exports and consignments already in the physical export pipeline.
For the 2025-26 sugar marketing year (October to September), the Food Ministry initially allowed 15 lakh tonnes in exports, then opened an additional 5,00,000-tonnes pool, of which only 87,587 tonnes were approved.
India’s wholesale price inflation rose sharply to a 42-month high of 8.3 per cent in April 2026 from 3.88 per cent in March, driven mainly by a steep rise in fuel and energy prices, according to data released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

Government has increased the MSP of Kharif Crops for Marketing Season 2026-27, to ensure remunerative prices to the growers for their produce.
The highest absolute increase in MSP over the previous year has been recommended for Sunflower Seed (₹ 622 per quintal) followed by Cotton (Rs. 557 per quintal), Nigerseed (Rs.515 per quintal) and Sesamum (Rs.500 per quintal).
