India and the UAE have signed a series of landmark agreements covering strategic petroleum reserves, long-term LPG supply, and defence cooperation. The pacts were inked following high-level talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi held amid the ongoing West Asia conflict.
One of the pacts include strategic collaboration agreement signed between Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserves Limited and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company to strengthen India’s energy security, including cooperation in petroleum reserves and possible collaboration on liquid natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) storage facilities.
The UAE has also pledged investments worth 5 billion US dollars in India. Prime Minister Modi reached UAE yesterday on first leg of his five-nation tour. India and the UAE also signed a framework for a strategic defence partnership which focuses on defence industrial collaboration, technology sharing, innovation and regional security cooperation.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has cancelled the Certificate of Registration (CoR) of 150 Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs), with the highest number of affected firms registered in Delhi and West Bengal, according to a central bank release.
An analysis of the RBI list showed that around 67 of the NBFCs were registered in Delhi, while about 75 companies were registered in West Bengal, particularly in Kolkata and nearby regions.
"The Reserve Bank of India, in exercise of powers conferred on it under Section 45-IA (6) of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934, has cancelled the Certificate of Registration of the following companies," the RBI said in its press release.
The cancelled entities include several small and mid-sized finance and investment companies engaged in lending, leasing, investment and related financial activities.
The Goa government has notified 4 lakh square metres of ecologically sensitive land around the protected heritage precinct of Old Goa and a patch of mangroves in St Cruz village panchayat as 'no development zones', banning any construction or development activity in these land parcels.
The Town and Country Planning (TCP) Board, in a notification on Thursday, declared a total of 102,000 square metres of land around Old Goa, comprising partly of orchards and an archaeological park, as a 'no development zone'.Old Goa is the former colonial capital of the coastal state and a UNESCO World Heritage site comprising churches and colonial Portuguese-era structures

Indian Naval Ship INS Sunayna, deployed as IOS Sagar with a multinational crew from 16 countries, arrived at Colombo this morning as part of India’s regional maritime cooperation initiative. The vessel is on the second edition of its Indian Ocean deployment aimed at strengthening ties among partner nations.
The crew includes naval personnel from countries such as Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Maldives, Mauritius, South Africa, Singapore and the UAE. The deployment reflects India’s “One Ocean, One Mission” vision and supports Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s MAHASAGAR initiative focused on regional maritime security and cooperation in the Indian Ocean Region.
The Reserve Bank on Friday said it has imposed a penalty of Rs 3.1 lakh on IIFL Finance for certain deficiencies in regulatory compliance.The penalty was imposed for non-compliance with certain provisions of the Master Direction- Reserve Bank of India (Non-Banking Financial Company - Scale Based Regulation).
National Dengue Day is being observed today in the country. Officially declared by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the day aims to raise awareness and strengthen preventive pre-monsoon measures against the disease.
The day is marked to promote simple control strategies, including the elimination of stagnant water and proper maintenance of water storage tanks, aimed at preventing mosquito breeding. The Ministry observes July as Anti-Dengue Month, during which sustained awareness and prevention campaigns are carried out nationwide.
Highlighting this year’s theme – “Community Participation for Dengue Control: Check, Clean and Cover”, Mr. Nadda emphasized that active community involvement is essential in the fight against dengue.
