Gurindervir breached the 2026 Commonwealth Games qualifying time of 10.16 seconds set by the Athletics Federation of India (AFI). His time of 10.09 seconds is the second fastest time by an Asian so far this season, behind 10.08 seconds clocked by 19-year-old Japanese sprinter Fukuto Komuro in May.
In a space of 30 minutes, the crowd witnessed another national record being broken as Vishal TK became the first Indian to run 400m below 45 seconds.

Indian private lender ICICI Bank has received approval from India's central bank to reappoint Sandeep Bakhshi as its chief executive for a further period of two years, with effect from October 4, the bank said.
ICICI Bank is India's second-largest private lender by market capitalisation. Bakhshi has led the bank since 2018.

India on Friday successfully test-launched the short-range ballistic missile Agni-1 from the Integrated Test Range in Balasore, Odisha.
According to the Ministry of Defence, the launch, carried out under the aegis of Strategic Forces Command, validated all operational and technical parameters of the missile system.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) declared a record surplus transfer of Rs 2.87 lakh crore to the government for FY26, which is notably lower than North Block’s budget estimates for dividend receipts this fiscal. RBI's balance sheet expanded by 20.61% to Rs 91.97 lakh crore at the end of March 31, 2026.

Karnataka Grameena Bank has been honoured with a prestigious National Award by the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA), New Delhi, for its outstanding performance in enrolment under the Atal Pension Yojana (APY).
Chairman of Karnataka Grameena Bank Shreekant M. Bhandiwad received the award from Secretary, Department of Financial Services (DFS), M. Nagaraju and Chairperson, PFRDA, S. Raman during the APY Annual Felicitation Programme in New Delhi.
Karnataka Grameena Bank achieved a remarkable milestone by enrolling 2,49,185 APY accounts against the DFS/PFRDA target of 1,75,500 accounts, registering an achievement level of 142%, the highest among all banks in the State.
Karnataka Grameena Bank was formed last year by amalgamating two RRBs of the State and now it is only Regional Rural Bank in the State with a strong network of 1,750 branches spread across the State. The bank has a total business of Rs. 1,10,974 crore and serves nearly two crore customers.
“The Centre has extended the tenure of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) chief Anurag Garg till July 2027,” according to a Personnel Ministry order.
Mr. Garg, a 1993 batch Indian Police Service officer of Himachal Pradesh cadre, was appointed Director General of the NCB in September 2024. His tenure was to end on May 23 2026.

The markhor was categorized as “near threatened” in 2014 and is on the International Union for Conservation of Nature Red List of Threatened Species, and has been included in Appendix I to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora since 1992.
The International Week of Solidarity with the Peoples of Non-Self-Governing Territories (NSGTs) occurs annually from May 25 to May 31. Established by the UN General Assembly, it highlights the rights of populations in 17 remaining colonial territories to achieve self-determination, while promoting their political, economic, and social advancement.
In the UN Charter, a Non-Self-Governing Territory is defined as a territory “whose people have not yet attained a full measure of self-government.”
In 1946, several UN Member States identified a number of territories under their administration that were not self-governing and placed them on a UN list.
Countries administering Non-Self-Governing Territories are called administering Powers. As a result of the decolonization process over the years, most of the territories were removed from the list.
2024 marks the 100th anniversary of the first international football tournament in history with the representation of all regions, which took place on May 25, 1924, during the summer Olympic games held in Paris.
In recognition of this milestone, on May 7, 2024, the General Assembly passed Resolution A/RES/78/281 proclaiming May 25 as World Football Day.
