The bank has also announced an initiative, which is a fully digital end-to-end journey for SBI Surya Ghar Loan, adding that the users can opt for credit to install solar rooftops under the central government’s PM Surya Ghar Scheme, offering loans for up to 10 KW capacity.
The entire process will be managed on SBI’s digital platform from applicant registration on the MNRE/REC portal to loan disbursement. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced that India achieved its highest-ever growth in defence production value during 2023-24. The significant progress of the Make in India initiative, noting new milestones being surpassed.
As per the data from all Defence Public Sector undertakings (DPSUs), other PSUs manufacturing defence items and private companies, the value of defence production in the country has gone up to a record-high figure i.e., Rs 1,26,887 crore, reflecting a growth of 16.7% over the defence production of the previous financial year.
The value of defence production in FY 2022-23 was Rs 1,08,684 crore.
In the last five years (since 2019-20), the value of defence production has been increasing steadily, and grown by over 60%.

private sector life insurer Shriram Life Insurance Company has rolled out a Deferred Annuity Plan aimed at providing a steady retirement income for customers. With an annuity plan starting at Rs 60,000 a year, the entry age for the plan is from 40 to 75 years and it includes payable with or without Return of Purchase Price.
Deferment period is from 5 to 10 years after which annuity payments would commence.
The plan features a Return of Purchase Price benefit, which protects the customers' initial investment in the event of terminal illness or death. If a customer suffers a stroke or passes away after the deferment period, the entire premium amount invested is refunded to their or their family.
Death benefit received during deferment period is 125 per cent of the total purchase price, which is the highest in the industry.
Senior Indian Information Service (IIS) officer Dhirendra Ojha has been appointed as the Director General of Press Information Bureau (PIB). Mr Ojha will replace Sheyphali Sharan, who has been appointed as the Director General of the Publications Division.
Ojha served as the director general, Central Bureau of Communications (CBC). PIB Director General Y K Baweja succeeds Ojha in the CBC, which looks after the advertising of all central government organisations and acts as an advisory body to the government on media strategy.
Indian Railways’ Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) Vadodara and Airbus today entered into collaboration to significantly strengthen the Indian aviation sector. The agreement includes a full scholarship program for 40 GSV students for the entire program duration, setting up the Centre of Excellence at GSV as well as the Airbus Aviation Chair Professor position at GSV.
Further, GSV and Airbus will partner for executive training for working professionals in the aviation sector. Focusing exclusively on transport and logistics sectors, GSV is a “first of its kind” university aiming to fulfill the mandate of the National Developmental Plans across railways, aviation, shipping, ports, highways, roads, and waterways.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Railways, Information and Broadcasting, Electronics and IT who is also the First Chancellor of Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, Shri Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Shri Ravneet Singh.
