Vasudevan reappointed as MD, CEO of Equitas Small Finance Bank for 3 years

Equitas Small Finance Bank Limited board of directors has approved the proposal for re-appointment of Vasudevan Pathangi Narasimhan (PN) as the MD & CEO for three years, with effect from July 23, 2022, up to July 22, 2025, subject to the RBI & shareholders' approval.

He was appointed as the MD of erstwhile Equitas Finance Limited, now a bank, with effect from July 23, 2016.

Mohammed Shami Becomes 5th Indian Fast Bowler to Claim 200 Test Wickets

Mohammed Shami achieved the milestone of 200 Test wickets after removing Kagiso Rabada on Day 3 of the first Test against South Africa at the SuperSport Park in Centurion.

The 31-year-old pacer is third-fastest among Indian pacers to reach the landmark, achieving it in his 55th Test match.

He is the 11th Indian bowler to pick up 200 or more wickets.

Gangtok to Indo- China Border named as Narendra Modi Marg by Governor

A second road linking Tsomgo lake and Nathula border pass with Gangtok -- christened as 'Narendra Modi Marg' -- was officially inaugurated by Governor Ganga Prasad.

The older route is called Jawaharlal Nehru Road.

The stretch, constructed by Border Roads Organisation, has reduced the distance between Gangtok and Tsomgo lake by 15 km.

Ross Taylor announces retirement from international cricket

Veteran New Zealand batter Ross Taylor has announced that he will retire from international cricket at the end of the ongoing domestic season. Taylor hence will play his final appearance in the second Test against Bangladesh, where will will equal Daniel Vettori’s record of 112 tests for New Zealand. He will be part of the one-day international series in Australia.

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has approved the acquisition of over 96 per cent stake in Jindal Power by Worldone.

Part of O P Jindal Group, JSPL is an industrial powerhouse with a dominant presence in steel, power, mining and infrastructure sectors.

Worldone Private Ltd is a private company owned by the Promoter Group of JSPL, managing and holding investments.

SBI Card, Paytm Join Hands For Card Tokenisation To Protect Cardholders' Data

SBI Cards and Payment Services has tied up with Paytm for card tokenisation to protect data of the cardholders.

SBI Card has collaborated with Paytm to enable cardholders to tokenise their cards on devices and make payments through Paytm.

This card tokenisation facility is available only on Android NFC (near field communication) devices.

AU Small Finance Bank has appointed Harun Rashid Khan as Non-Executive Independent Director (Additional Director) on the Board, for a period of three years, effective immediately.

He is a former Deputy Governor and the Executive Director at the Reserve Bank of India.

AU Small Finance started its banking operations in April 2017.

Centre extends AFSPA in Nagaland for six more months

The Union Home Ministry has extended the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) in the whole of Nagaland for another six months (With effect from December 30, 2021).

The Act, which has been in force in the northeast since 1958, gives unbridled powers to the armed forces & the Central Armed Police Forces deployed in “disturbed areas”.

Insurance regulator IRDAI has said that the state-owned LIC, GIC Re and New India continue to be identified as Domestic Systemically Important Insurers (D-SIIs) for 2021-22.

D-SIIs refer to insurers of such size, market importance and domestic and global inter connectedness, whose distress or failure would cause a significant dislocation in the domestic financial system.
