RBI approves amalgamation of Navanirman Co-op Urban Bank with Rajadhani Co-op Urban Bank

The Reserve Bank of India has sanctioned the Scheme of Amalgamation of The Navanirman Co-operative Urban Bank Ltd with Rajadhani Co-op. Urban Bank Ltd. Both urban co-operative banks are Hyderabad-based.

The branch of The Navanirman Co-operative Urban Bank Ltd will function as a branch of Rajadhani Co-op. Urban Bank Ltd with effect from August 03, 2023, per a RBI statement.

Indian Rupee Not Legal Tender For Domestic Payments: Sri Lanka Central Bank

Sri Lanka's Central Bank said that no domestic transactions would be allowed with the Indian Rupee in the island country.

The apex bank said that even though the Indian Rupee (INR) has been endorsed as a designated foreign currency, it is not a legal tender in Sri Lanka for domestic payments/settlements.

INR was designated a foreign currency in Sri Lanka in August 2022.

NLC along with UP Govt to set up 1,980 MW Thermal Plant for Rs 19,406 crore

NLC India Limited has entered into a joint venture with the UP government to set up a thermal power plant at a cost of Rs 19,406 crore.

The 1,980 MW Plant will have three units of 660 MW each. The first phase of the project will start generating power by the end of this year.

The plant will come up at Ghatampur near Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh

GST Council meet: 28% tax on online gaming to become effective from 1 Oct, says FM Sitharaman, to review after 6 months

After the 51st GST Council Meeting in New Delhi, Ms Sitharaman said the 28 percent GST casinos and online gaming will be levied on face value.

The Council had also recommended that the law may be amended to provide clarity in the matter. It recommended certain amendments in the CGST Act 2017 and IGST Act 2017 to provide clarity on the taxation of supplies in casinos, horse.

UPI records 9.96 billion transactions in July worth Rs 15.34 lakh crore

Unified Payments Interface (UPI) registered 9.96 billion transactions in July, with the total value for the month hitting Rs 15.34 lakh crore, according to data from the NPCI.

This shows a 6.6% jump in the number of transactions via UPI from 9.34 billion in June. The value of transactions in the same period rose 4% from Rs 14.75 lakh crore.

NLC plans to set up 2,400 MW thermal plant in Odisha for Rs 19,422 crore

NLC India Ltd is planning to set up a 2,400 MW coal-based plant in Odisha. The plant will be set up at an investment of Rs 19,422 crore at Talabira (Talabira coal mines) in Odisha. The plant will supply 1,450 MW of power to Tamil Nadu, 100 MW to Puducherry and 400 MW to Kerala.

he Rajya Sabha passed the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2023, that seeks to promote ease of business by decriminalising minor offences through amendments in 183 provisions of 42 Acts.

The Bill, which was cleared by the Lok Sabha on July 27, was passed by a voice vote in the Upper House.
