The Ministry of Coal has achieved a remarkable increase in coal production and dispatch from captive and commercial coal blocks for the first quarter i.e. period of 1st April 2024 to 30th June 2024 of the current financial year compared to the same period last year.
Production of Coal has increased by 35% YoY, from 29.26 MT in Q1 of FY24, to 39.53 MT in Q1 of FY25.
Similarly, Dispatch has shown a growth of 34.25% YoY, from 34.07 MT in Q1 of FY24 to 45.68 MT in Q1 of FY25.The primary goal of the Ministry is to significantly boost coal production, ensuring a consistent and reliable supply to meet our nations’ escalating energy needs.

Crypto exchange platform CoinDCX has acquired virtual digital assets (VDAs) platform BitOasis, based in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, for an undisclosed amount as part of the company’s global expansion strategy.

NITI Aayog is launching ‘Sampoornata Abhiyan’, a 3-month campaign from 4th July – 30th September 2024, to undertake a sustained effort to achieve saturation of 6 key indicators in Aspirational Districts and 6 key indicators in Aspirational Blocks across the country.
‘Sampoornata Abhiyan’ seeks to achieve saturation in each of the 6 identified indicators in the 112 Aspirational Districts and 500 Aspirational Blocks under the Aspirational Districts Programme and Aspirational Blocks Programme.
NITI Aayog, in collaboration with the relevant Central Ministries and Departments, as well as the Governments of States and Union Territories, will work together to ensure the effective and rapid development of these Districts and Blocks. This collaboration will focus on improved planning and implementation, capacity building, and establishing systems for service delivery.
The government announced that the flagship Smart Cities Mission (SCM) in 100 cities will be extended till March 2025.
The government take this decision because of following requests from several states and urban local bodies seeking time to complete the remainder of the projects.
The government’s statement is 830 projects amounting to ₹19,926 crore, accounting for 10% of the total projects under the mission, were in advanced stages of completion while 7,188 projects (90% of total projects) amounting to ₹1,44,237 crore had been completed.
The union government has already released ₹46,585 crore (97% of the allocation) to 100 cities and 93% of the central funding has been utilised. A parliamentary standing committee report in February 2024 also suggested that the government extend the smart cities mission to ensure that the Centre helps cities that are falling behind.
UPI QR codes will now be easily available across the UAE and Middle East, making digital payments easier as NPCI International collaborators with Network International (Network), a major player in digital commerce accords Middle East and Africa. QR code-based UPI payments via Network’s point-of-sale (POS) terminals in the UAE.
The introduction of UPI payments in UAE through NPCI International and Network International aims to provide seamless payment experiences for Indian travelers and NRIs. The initiative reflects the growing global acceptance of UPI, with partnerships established in various countries for faster digital payments.
National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and Online PSB Loans Limited have signed an agreement to promote financial inclusion through regional rural banks. The collaboration seeks to smoothen the process of enrolment and claim settlement under the Jan Suraksha Schemes for all 43 Regional Rural Banks (RRBs).

The Government of India has issued a guidelines for funding of testing facilities, infrastructure, and institutional support for development of Standards and Regulatory framework under the National Green Hydrogen Mission. The Scheme Guidelines have been issued by the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE).
he scheme will support identification of the gaps in the existing testing facilities for components, technologies, and processes in the value chain of Green Hydrogen & its derivatives. The Scheme will support creation of new testing facilities and upgradation of existing Testing Facilities to ensure safe and secure operations.
The Scheme will be implemented with a total budgetary outlay of Rs. 200 Crores till the financial year 2025-26.
The National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) will be the Scheme Implementation agency (SIA).
The scheme encompasses the development of robust quality and performance testing facilities to ensure quality, sustainability, and safety in GH2 production and trade.
The National Green Hydrogen Mission was launched on 4th January 2023, with an outlay of Rs. 19,744 crores up to FY 2029-30. It will contribute to India’s goal to become Aatma Nirbhar (self-reliant) through clean energy and serve as an inspiration for the global Clean Energy Transition. The Mission will lead to significant decarbonization of the economy.
