India and Saint Christopher & Nevis Sign Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Sports.

Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, Hon’ble Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of the Republic of India discussed the various areas of cooperation in sports matters with the Dr. Denzil Douglas Hon’ble Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Government of the Federation of Saint Christopher and Nevis. Both the sides signed an MoU today on cooperation in sports matters.

Nagaland becomes 1st Indian state to implement disaster management insurance.

CM Neiphiu Rio said his govt and SBI General Insurance inked an MoU for DRTPS, making Nagaland the first state in the country to implement a disaster risk management insurance solution. Disaster Risk Transfer Parametric Insurance Solution (DRTPS) will aid in protecting the state’s critical infrastructure and reduce economic losses due to a disaster, the CM said.

Indian classical dance exponent Yamini Krishnamurthy passed away. She was a recipient of Padma Shri in 1968, Padma Bhushan in 2001, and Padma Vibhushan in 2016. Tata Group conducted a “ground-breaking” ceremony of their ₹27,000 crore semiconductor assembly and test facility in Jagiroad, Assam. The investment outlay was ₹27,000 crores and the project is expected to generate over 27,000 direct and indirect jobs in the region.

The new facility is expected to be operationalised by mid-2025.

Graham Thorpe, former England cricketer and coach, dies aged 55.

Former England cricketer and coach Graham Thorpe passed away, the England and Wales Cricket Board announced. He was 55. Thorpe played 100 Tests and 82 ODIs for England between 1993 and 2005 and scored 6,744 runs in the longer format, which included 16 centuries, at an average of 44.66.
