Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, Hon’ble Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of the Republic of India discussed the various areas of cooperation in sports matters with the Dr. Denzil Douglas Hon’ble Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Government of the Federation of Saint Christopher and Nevis. Both the sides signed an MoU today on cooperation in sports matters.
The salient areas of cooperation under this MoU are under- Training and competition of athletes and athletic teams,
Training and technical assistance for coaches,
Exchange programs and visits of sports leaders, officials, sports administrators, professionals, technicians, and sports support personnel,
Collaboration in the area of sports research & development in training
Exchange of youth/junior in various disciplines including badminton, Shooting, Wrestling, Kabaddi and Athletics,
Training, exchange and attachment programs for sports sciences personnel and other development assistance in sports sciences,
Training, exchange and attachment programmes in the areas of coach education, curriculum development, sports education, sports management
CM Neiphiu Rio said his govt and SBI General Insurance inked an MoU for DRTPS, making Nagaland the first state in the country to implement a disaster risk management insurance solution. Disaster Risk Transfer Parametric Insurance Solution (DRTPS) will aid in protecting the state’s critical infrastructure and reduce economic losses due to a disaster, the CM said.
The MoU was signed for three years with immediate effect. The MoU was signed between the officials of SBI General Insurance and the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) at the CMO here. The insurance covers the entire Nagaland, the CM said, adding that the government will pay the insurance premium,
And if a disaster happens, the insurer will come to the rescue for three years from 2024-2027.
DRTPS is especially relevant in the context of an increase in extreme weather occurrences caused by climatic change, the NSDMA said. The vision of the scheme is to provide financially resilient and safe livelihoods for sustainable development.
Indian classical dance exponent Yamini Krishnamurthy passed away. She was a recipient of Padma Shri in 1968, Padma Bhushan in 2001, and Padma Vibhushan in 2016. She was also conferred the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1977. The doyenne of Indian classical Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, and Odissi, for over four decades, passed away.
Tata Group conducted a “ground-breaking” ceremony of their ₹27,000 crore semiconductor assembly and test facility in Jagiroad, Assam. The investment outlay was ₹27,000 crores and the project is expected to generate over 27,000 direct and indirect jobs in the region.
The new facility is expected to be operationalised by mid-2025.

Former England cricketer and coach Graham Thorpe passed away, the England and Wales Cricket Board announced. He was 55. Thorpe played 100 Tests and 82 ODIs for England between 1993 and 2005 and scored 6,744 runs in the longer format, which included 16 centuries, at an average of 44.66.
The stylish left-handed batter also smashed 2380 runs laced with 21 fifties at an average of 37.18. Thorpe also spent 17 years playing for Surrey, where he made 241 appearances in first-class cricket and 271 List-A games, scoring over 20,000 runs for the county side. His former county also mourned his sad loss as chairman Oli Slipper hailed his legacy.

Reliance Industries has improved its ranking in Fortune’s Global 500 list for 2024 to 86 from 88, maintaining its top position as the highest ranked among Indian corporates. The company has gained 69 places in the last three years from 155 in 2021. Fortune Global 500 list ranks companies by total revenues for their respective financial years ended on or before March 31,2024
India has nine companies in the Fortune’s Global 500 list this year – five of them from the public sector. Insurance behemoth Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) jumped 12 places to be ranked at No.95 on the 2024 list while state-owned Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) slid 22 places to 116. State Bank of India (SBI) soared 57 spots to rank at No.178.
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) were ranked at No.180 and No.258 after they slid 22 and 25 spots respectively. Tata Motors was ranked at No.271, up 66 spots. HDFC Bank at No.306 and Rajesh Exports at No.463 were the other Indian firms on the list.

Lyles edged past Jamaican Kishane Thompson to win his first Olympic gold medal in a lifetime-best 9.784 seconds. Lyles crossed the finish line just five-thousandths of a second ahead of Thompson, who posted a time of 9.789. The result wasn't clear until nearly 30 seconds after the end of the race, as the competitors waited nervously for the details of their photo finish.
Noah Lyles was a gold medalist. Thompson took silver, and American Fred Kerley claimed bronze, Kerley's second career Olympic medal in the 100m.

the Macro Indicators module provides time series data of macroeconomic indicators of four key products of the Ministry. This module is equipped with features for filtering and visualizing data, along with metadata to aid in comprehensive data analysis.
Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has launched new term life insurance plans for providing term insurance and safety net against loan repayments – LIC's Yuva Term, LIC's Digi Term, LIC's Yuva Credit Life, LIC's Digi Credit Life. The plans are available online and offline.
Since more individuals are using loan facilities for a variety of reasons, LIC has introduced a term insurance plan to cover loan liabilities such as housing, education, and vehicles to act as a safety net against loans reimbursements to the insured's relatives, according to a press release issued by LIC.

DBS Bank India has launched "DBS Golden Circle," a priority banking program for senior citizens. The program, designed for resident Indian citizens aged 60 and above, offers exclusive benefits and services, including attractive interest rates on savings accounts and fixed deposits, enhanced security features, and personalised financial services to address income insecurity,
which is a significant concern for the elderly, as highlighted in the India Ageing Report 2023 by the United Nations Population Fund. Senior citizens enrolled in the DBS Golden Circle can earn up to 7% interest per annum on savings account balances above Rs 4 Lakhs and up to Rs 5 Lakhs.
Moreover, they can benefit from an enhanced interest rate of 0.50% per annum on fixed deposits with tenures ranging from 376 days to 540 days. To enhance security, the DBS Golden Circle program offers cyber insurance coverage up to Rs 1,00,000. Additionally, fixed deposits with a tenure of over one year do not incur penalties for premature withdrawals.
India will host the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation – BIMSTEC Business Summit in New Delhi. External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar will inaugurate the three-day Business Summit along with keynote addresses from Commerce and Industries Minister Piyush Goyal and other leaders.
The event will also feature several ministers of the BIMSTEC Member States along with high-ranking Government officials, policymakers, entrepreneurs and industry associations. The External Affairs Ministry said that BIMSTEC Business Summit will bring together more than 300 key stakeholders from across the Bay of Bengal region,
To facilitate economic collaboration and explore ways ahead in focus areas such as trade facilitation, regional connectivity, energy security, inclusive growth, and sustainable development. The Ministry added that the summit aims to foster greater regional collaboration through robust trade and investment relations among the BIMSTEC member countries.
