Pavan Kapoor took charge as the new Ambassador to UAE. During his last posting, he served as the Ambassador to Israel. He has also served in the External Affairs ministry & also in the PM’s office. He replaced Navdeep Singh Suri, who retired last month.

In Bihar, the 4 days long auspicious Chhath festival worship of the Sun God begun on 31 October. Nahay Khaya Devotees specially women across the state will take holy dip in water bodies. Kharna will be observed which mark beginning of 36 hr long fast.
Festival will end with the obeisance paid to the rising Sun.
Satya Pal Malik would be sworn in as Goa Governor on November 3. He was the former governor of J&K and will replace Mridula Sinha, the first woman governor of Goa. He will be administered the oath of office by CJ of the Bombay High Court Pradeep Nandrajog.
Mridula Sinha’s tenure had ended on 2019 August 31.
Veteran CPI leader and former MP Gurudas Dasgupta died at the age of 83. He was suffering from lung cancer for quite some time. Dasgupta, known for his oratory skills, was a veteran trade union leader of AITUC. He was elected to the Rajya Sabha in 1985.
He was elected to the Lok Sabha from West Bengal in 2004 & 2009.
World Vegan Day is an annual event celebrated by vegans around the world on 1 November. The event was established in 1994 by Louise Wallis, then Chair of The Vegan Society in the UK, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the organisation.
Day is also observed to save the animals from cruelty.
