T Rabi Sankar named RBI deputy governor; to succeed B P Kanungo

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) executive director T Rabi Sankar has been named as the fourth Deputy Governor of the central bank. He has been appointed for a period of three years. The other three deputy governors are Mahesh Kumar Jain, Michael Patra and M Rajeshwar Rao.BP Kanungo retired on April 2, 2021.

Anand Mahindra Deploys Boleros To Roll Out 'Oxygen On Wheels' Project

Mahindra Group rolled out the 'Oxygen on Wheels' project in a bid to ease the transportation of Oxygen as there's been a heavy shortage of oxygen in Maharashtra due to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic. The "Oxygen on Wheels" will use trucks in local shuttle routes to connect oxygen producers with hospital, homes and wherever oxygen is needed for medical purposes.

FinMin releases first instalment worth Rs 8,873 cr of SDRF to states

The Centre released the first instalment of the central share of the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) of ₹8873.6 crore for the year 2021-22 ahead of the normal schedule. The government said that the states can use up to 50% of the amount for coronavirus disease (Covid-19) containment measures.

SIDBI has launched SHWAS (SIDBI assistance to Healthcare sector in War Against Second wave of COVID19) and AROG (SIDBI Assistance to MSMEs for Recovery & Organic Growth during COVID-19 pandemic), two new quick credit delivery schemes. IIT-Bombay converts existing nitrogen plant into oxygen generator

The Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay (IIT-B), has set up a demonstration unit to convert nitrogen generators, which are found in all parts of India, into oxygen generators by fine-tuning the existing nitrogen plant set up.The oxygen generated by this plant at IIT-B lab was tested and found to be 93-96% pure and at 3.5 atmospheric pressure.
