Russian team back on Earth after filming first movie in space

A Russian actor and a film director have returned to Earth after spending 12 days on the International Space Station shooting scenes for the first movie in orbit. The film-makers had blasted off from the Russia-leased Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan earlier this month, travelling to the ISS with veteran cosmonaut Anton Shkaplerov to film scenes for "The Challenge".

For the first time in the history of major ports, Ship-to-Ship operation of LPG undertaken at Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port

For the first time, Kolkata Port has successfully handled ship-to-ship (STS) lighterage operation of Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) of BPCL at Sandheads. Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port said the first-ever STS operation of LPG in the Indian Coast was undertaken by Bharat Petroleum in October and a quantity of 23,051 MT of cargo was transferred to the daughter vessel in 17 hours.

Telangana Develops India's First Smartphone-Based E-Voting Solution

Telangana's 'e-Voting' solution was particularly meant to increase voting accessibility for persons with disabilities, senior citizens, and sick people, among others.The initiative is done by the Telangana State Election Commission with the implementation support of the Emerging Technologies Wing of the state's IT Dept, and the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing.

RBI approves appointment of Pradeep Kumar Panja as Chairman of Karnataka Bank

Resereve Bank of India (RBI) has approved the appointment of Pradeep Kumar Panja as part-time Chairman of Karnataka Bank, the lender stated in a regulatory filing last week. The appointment will come into effect from November 14, 2021 and will be for a period of three years. Pradeep Kumar Panja retired as Managing Director (Corporate Banking) of State Bank of India (SBI).

DGCA temporarily suspends SpiceJet's licence to carry dangerous goods

Aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has temporarily suspended SpiceJet's licence for the transportation of 'dangerous goods' for alleged violations. The suspension is for 30 days, and during this period, SpiceJet will not be allowed to carry dangerous goods, including lithium-ion batteries, on its domestic as well as international flights.

Amitabh Chaudhry reappointed Axis Bank CEO

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) approved the re-appointment of Amitabh Chaudhry as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of private lender Axis Bank for a period of three years.

Amitabh had taken charge as Axis Bank’s new MD and CEO in January 2019 after as outgoing MD and CEO Shikha Sharma retired, effective December 31, 2018.

India adds 6,530 MW solar, wind capacities during July 2020-June 2021: Report

India added a total of 6,530 mega watt (MW) of solar and wind capacities between July 2020 and June 2021.

At 6,530 MW, the addition was a rise of 3 per cent compared to the year-ago period, the Bridge to India report said.

Total utility-scale solar & wind capacity addition in the 12-month period between July 2020-June 2021 was 6,530 MW, a nominal 3 % year-on-year increase.
