Alikhan Smailov named Kazakhstan's Prime Minister

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev nominated Alikhan Smailov for Prime Minister, and the lower house of parliament swiftly voted him in during a session broadcast live on state television.

Alikhan Smailov (49) served as the first Deputy Prime Minister in the previous cabinet which Mr. Tokayev dismissed last week.

The Indian Olympic Association appointed senior vice president of the Indian Olympic Association Rakesh Anand as the Chef de Mission of the country’s contingent for the upcoming Commonwealth Games to be held at Birmingham from July 28-August 8.

IOA president Narinder Dhruv Batra also announced general team managers for the Commonwealth Games.

In a big boost to the armed forces, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully flight tested the final deliverable configuration of Man Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile (MPATGM).

The indigenously developed anti-tank missile is a low weight, fire and forget missile and is launched from a man portable launcher, integrated with thermal sight.

David Bennett, 57, is doing well three days after the experimental seven-hour procedure in Baltimore.

Tata Group to replace Vivo as Indian Premier League 2022 title sponsor

Govt to own 35.8% in Vodafone Idea after conversion of AGR dues into equity

Vodafone Idea has approved the conversion of the full amount of interest related to spectrum auction instalments and Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) Dues into equity.

The conversion will therefore result in dilution to all the existing shareholders of the company, including the promoters.

The Net Present Value (NPV) of this interest is expected to be about ₹16,000 crore.

World Bank Maintains India's Growth Projection At 8.3% For 2021-22

India's economic growth is expected to be 8.3 per cent in the current financial year and 8.7 per cent in 2022-23, according to World Bank's "Global Economic Prospects" report.

The 8.3 percent GDP growth prediction for the current fiscal (2021-22) is the same as what was projected by the World Bank in its last projection released in October 2021.
