The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Department, Government of Odisha has been awarded first prize in the category "National MSME Award 2022 to States/UTs for outstanding contribution in the promotion and Development of MSME Sector" by virtue of various developmental initiatives taken up for the development of MSMEs.

25 new bypasses were announced in Rajasthan at a cost of Rs 5,000 crore. Besides, a provision of Rs. 200 crore has been made for ROB on state highways under Setubandhan Yojana.

Maruti India’s first MD, Dr V Krishnamurthy, the 'father of public sector undertaking in India, passes away at 97

Dr. V Krishnamurthy, former MD, Maruti Udyog (Maruti Suzuki, at present) passed away. The veteran was appointed as the company’s first vice-chairman and MD in 1981.

He was honoured with Padma Shri in 1973, the Padma Bhushan in 1986 and the Padma Vibushan in 2007, respectively.

He is credited to make Maruti a passenger vehicle OEM.

“Forensic Science Capabilities: Strengthening for Time-bound and Scientific Investigation” assembly chaired by Amit Shah

Union Home and Cooperation Minister, Amit Shah chaired the assembly of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee of Ministry of Home Affairs, at Kevadia, in Gujarat.

The meeting reviewed the forensic science capabilities available in the country and Shah said the home ministry is committed to achieving the conviction rate of up to 90 per cent in crime cases.

MoE's first-ever school index 'Performance Grading Index for Districts (PGI-D)' for districts; 3 Rajasthan districts top

Top performing districts were Jaipur, Sikar and Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan. They scored more than 80% overall under the various parameters defined.

PGI-D structure has a total weightage of 600 points under 6 categories.

Index organises districts in 10 grades,highest being ‘Daksh’ & lowest ‘Akanshi-3’.

The Rajasthan toppers found a place in ‘Utkarsh’(81-90%) grade in 2019-20.

India, Malaysia hold talks to enhance defence cooperation under the existing Malaysia India Defence Cooperation Meeting (MIDCOM)

Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh held a Video Conference with Senior Defence Minister of Malaysia, YB Dato 'Seri HishammuddinTun Hussein on June 27, 2022.

A wide range of issues concerning bilateral, regional and defence industrial cooperation were discussed during the meeting.

NITI Aayog launches report 'India's Booming Gig and Platform Economy' on gig economy in India

Gig workers are typically those who work freelance, contractual, temporary, or on-call basis.

It is estimated that in 2020-21,77 lakh workers were engaged in gig economy. They constituted 2.6% of the non-agricultural workforce or 1.5% of the total workforce in India.

It is expected to expand to 2.35 crore workers by 2029-30.

In Kerala, noted lyricist, author and journalist, Chowalloor Krishnankutty passed away at a private Medical College Hospital in Thrissur. Je was 86.

A former Staff Artist with AIR, Krishnankutty penned over 3000 devotional songs and authored more than 200 books. He retired as an Assistant Editor with the Malayala Manorama daily.

World Bank approves $250 mn loan for India's road safety programme

RBI grants Prepaid Payment Instrument licence to Mufin Finance

Mufin Finance, one of the leading NBFCs, has received in-principal RBI approval for issuance of semi-closed prepaid payment instruments.

A semi-closed PPI licence allows digital banks, fintech firms and large consumer-facing applications to roll out features such as digital payment solutions for lending.

Mufin Finance is the fourth NBFC to receive such a licence.

To recoup payment for GST dues, nod for compensation cess levy till March 2026

In order to recoup payment for GST dues, the finance ministry has given an extension of nearly 4 years for the levy of GST compensation cess, till March 31, 2026.

The GST Council previously approved the repayment of loans intended to compensate states for the five years since the July 2017 rollout. This extension of the cess levy is in line with that permission.

Inequality of Income in India has declined significantly since Financial Year 2017: SBI Ecowrap research report.

India’s poverty ratio has also declined to 17.9% in 2020-21 from 21.9% in 2011-12, the report said.

It also says that the income inequality in the country has also declined during the Covid-19.
