KK Venugopal Re-Appointed Attorney General For Three Months

Celebrated advocate Kottayan Katankot Venugopal, was re-appointed the Attorney General for India for three months.

Sh. Venugopal, the oldest person to occupy the post, was appointed as the Attorney General for India in July 2017, succeeding Mukul Rohatgi.

Cabinet approvals:Categorisation of CDRI as International Organisation

The Government approved the categorisation of the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI) as an ‘International Organisation’ & signing of the Headquarters Agreement (HQA) with CDRI for granting it the exemptions, immunities and privileges as contemplated under the United Nations (Privileges & Immunities) Act, 1947.

Cabinet approvals:Deregulation of Sale of Domestically Produced Crude Oil

Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved ‘Deregulation of Sale of Domestically Produced Crude Oil’, where Government has decided to cease allocation of crude oil & condensate w.e.f. 01.10.2022. This will ensure marketing freedom for all Exploration & Production (E&P) operators.

All E&P companies will now be free to sell crude oil from their fields in domestic market

Cabinet approvals:Govt approves Rs 2,516 cr for computerisation of 63k Primary Agriculture Credit Societies

Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (Capproved computerisation of 63,000 functional Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) over 5 years with a total budget outlay of Rs 2,516 cr. The Centre’s share would be Rs 1,528 crore. The PACS constitute the lowest tier of the three-tier short-term cooperative credit (STCC) with 130 million farmers as its members.

Credit Card Spending Crosses Rs 1.13 Lakh Crore In May: RBI Data

Credit card spending has crossed Rs 1.13 lakh crore in May compared to Rs 1.05 lakh crore in the previous month according to official data.

The month-on-month rise in spending through cards indicates a pick-up in economic activity.

The data showed that 7.68 crore credit card holders spent about Rs 71,429 crore for buying online and spent Rs.42,266 cr at PoS machines in May.

ABHYAS – High speed Expendable Aerial Target (HEAT) was successfully flight-tested from the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur off the coast of Odisha.

Sandeep Kumar Gupta to be next chairman of GAIL, succeeds Manoj Jain

Sandeep Kumar Gupta, Director for Finance at Indian Oil Corporation, has been picked to head India's largest gas utility GAIL (India) Ltd.

The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) selected Gupta, 56, for the post of chairman and managing director of GAIL after interviewing 10 candidates.

He will replace Manoj Jain, who is scheduled to retire on August 31.

100% electric two-wheelers penetration by FY27, NITI Aayog report forecast

NITI Aayog and Technology Information, Forecasting and Assessment Council (TIFAC) in a report have optimistically forecast 100 per cent penetration of electric two-wheelers in the Indian market by FY2026-27.

The report was titled 'Forecasting Penetration of Electric Two-Wheelers in India'.

The sale of electric two-wheelers may cross 220 lakh units by FY2028-29,it said.

Green Hydrogen Market In India Likely To Reach $340 Billion By 2050: NITI Aayog,RMI Report

Report highlights that green hydrogen can substantially spur industrial decarbonisation and economic growth for India in the coming decades,which is critical for India to achieve its net-zero ambitions by 2070.

The report concludes that hydrogen demand in India could could reach $8 billion by 2030 and $340 billion by 2050.

India to have 122 unicorns in next 2-4 years in 25 cities: ASK Private Wealth Hurun India Future Unicorn Index 2022.

Report said India's future unicorns are currently worth $49 billion, an increase of 36% compared to last year. 17 gazelles & 7 cheetahs from last year's index hit unicorn valuation this year.

Hurun India’s findings showed that Bengaluru continues to be the start-up capital of India with home to 46 probable Unicorns, followed by Delhi NCR (25) and Mumbai (16).

According to Mercer's 2022 Cost of Living survey, Mumbai (127) is the costliest city in India in terms of both living expenses and accommodation costs for expatriates.

This is followed by New Delhi (155), Chennai (177), Bengaluru (178), and Hyderabad (192), while Pune (201) and Kolkata (203) are the least expensive Indian cities in the ranking.
