Celebrated advocate Kottayan Katankot Venugopal, was re-appointed the Attorney General for India for three months.
Sh. Venugopal, the oldest person to occupy the post, was appointed as the Attorney General for India in July 2017, succeeding Mukul Rohatgi.

Union Cabinet chaired by the PM Narendra Modi was apprised of an MoU signed between the Department of Science and Technology of India and Ministry of Trade and Industry of Singapore on Cooperation in the fields of Science, Technology and Innovation.
MoU will provide a mechanism and help in creating and ecosystem that will promote innovation and entrepreneurship.
The MoU was signed in February 2022.
Union Cabinet chaired by PM Narendra Modi was apprised of a Strategic Partnership Agreement signed between the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE),India and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).
The aim of the Agreement is to drive ambition, leadership and knowledge on green energy transitions based on renewable energy in India.
India targets 500 GW non-fossil fuel installed capacity by 2030.
The Government approved the categorisation of the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI) as an ‘International Organisation’ & signing of the Headquarters Agreement (HQA) with CDRI for granting it the exemptions, immunities and privileges as contemplated under the United Nations (Privileges & Immunities) Act, 1947.
CDRI was launched by PM Modi during the United Nations Climate Action Summit in 2019.
Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved ‘Deregulation of Sale of Domestically Produced Crude Oil’, where Government has decided to cease allocation of crude oil & condensate w.e.f. 01.10.2022. This will ensure marketing freedom for all Exploration & Production (E&P) operators.
All E&P companies will now be free to sell crude oil from their fields in domestic market
However, the ban on the export of crude oil will continue.
Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (Capproved computerisation of 63,000 functional Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) over 5 years with a total budget outlay of Rs 2,516 cr. The Centre’s share would be Rs 1,528 crore. The PACS constitute the lowest tier of the three-tier short-term cooperative credit (STCC) with 130 million farmers as its members.
Credit card spending has crossed Rs 1.13 lakh crore in May compared to Rs 1.05 lakh crore in the previous month according to official data.
The month-on-month rise in spending through cards indicates a pick-up in economic activity.
The data showed that 7.68 crore credit card holders spent about Rs 71,429 crore for buying online and spent Rs.42,266 cr at PoS machines in May.
HDFC Bank had the highest number of credit cards at 1.72 crore in May followed by SBI

ABHYAS – High speed Expendable Aerial Target (HEAT) was successfully flight-tested from the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur off the coast of Odisha.
The performance of the aircraft at low altitude including sustained level and high manoeuvrability was demonstrated during the test flight.
ABHYAS is designed & developed by Aeronautical Development Establishment of DRDO.
The 9th Army to Army Staff Talks (AAST) between the Australian Army and Indian Army were conducted in Dehradun.
AAST focused on joint military exercises, training cooperation, and preparing a roadmap for enhanced Defence Cooperation between both the Armies.
Talks were held at Indian Military Academy, Dehradun.
Sandeep Kumar Gupta, Director for Finance at Indian Oil Corporation, has been picked to head India's largest gas utility GAIL (India) Ltd.
The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) selected Gupta, 56, for the post of chairman and managing director of GAIL after interviewing 10 candidates.
He will replace Manoj Jain, who is scheduled to retire on August 31.
GAIL is India's largest gas transmission and gas marketing company.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on June 29 announced his resignation, minutes after the Supreme Court refused to stay the floor test called by Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari in the assembly scheduled for June 30.

NITI Aayog and Technology Information, Forecasting and Assessment Council (TIFAC) in a report have optimistically forecast 100 per cent penetration of electric two-wheelers in the Indian market by FY2026-27.
The report was titled 'Forecasting Penetration of Electric Two-Wheelers in India'.
The sale of electric two-wheelers may cross 220 lakh units by FY2028-29,it said.
TIFAC is an autonomous organization set up in 1988 under the Department of Science & Tech
