RBI approves appointment of Meena Hemchandra as part-time chairman of Karur Vysya Bank

Private sector lender Karur Vysya Bank said the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved the appointment of former RBI executive Meena Hemchandra as part-time chairman of the bank for three years.

In May, the bank had recommended Hemchandra’s candidature for the position of non-executive independent (part-time) chairperson of the bank to the RBI for approval.

Indian Grandmaster Surya Sekhar Ganguly emerged the winner in the Fischer Random event at Biel Chess Festival here with compatriot S P Sethuraman finishing in second place. User consent must for UPI apps to collect location data, directs NPCI

In the UPI application programme interface (API) framework, geo-tagged information of the payment is captured while initiating a transaction. National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) guidelines state that location details along with other relevant customer data need to be captured within the app provider’s system in an encrypted format.

India's retail inflation eases to 7.01 percent in June

Industrial Production Index jumps to 19.6 percent in May

The Index of Industrial Production (IIP) jumped 19.6 percent in May 2022 as against 7.1 percent in preceding month. Avdhash Kaushal, noted social worker and Padma Shri awardee, passes away

Noted social worker and Padma Shri awardee Avdhash Kaushal died at a private hospital following a prolonged illness. He was 87. Kaushal who founded an NGO named Rural Litigation and Entitlement Kendra fought for human rights and the conservation of the environment. Kaushal is credited with bringing mining activities to an end in Mussoorie in the 1980s.

Cabinet approves Taranga Hill-Ambaji-Abu Rd rail line for improved mobility

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved Taranga Hill-Ambaji-Abu Road new rail line to provide connectivity and improve mobility. FSIB recommends Rajkiran Rai G as NaBFID managing director

Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB) has recommended former Union Bank of India managing director Rajkiran Rai G as the head of the newly set-up Rs 20,000-crore National Bank for Financing Infrastructure and Development (NaBFID).

In October 2021, the government appointed veteran banker KV Kamath as the chairperson of the NaBFID for three years.
