Wall Street veteran Marty Chavez is joining the board of Google parent Alphabet Inc., adding significant finance muscle to the technology giant.

Chavez, a vice chairman and partner with Sixth Street Partners, has worked as an investor and software executive but is best known for his 20-year tenure at Goldman Sachs Group Inc.

Infosys will acquire Denmark-based BASE life science for about 110 million euros (Rs 875 crore) in an all-cash deal. The acquisition will deepen Infosys' expertise in life sciences domain as well as strengthen its footprint across Europe.

LIC to invest Rs 80.67 crore in rights issue of its Nepal joint venture

State-owned LIC will invest Rs 80.67 crore in the proposed rights issue of its joint venture LIC (Nepal) Ltd.

LIC said the central government has nominated Suchindra Mishra, Additional Secretary, Department of Financial Services, as Government Director on its board with immediate effect.

He replaces Pankaj Jain.

Kotak Mahindra Bank bags DLL India’s agri & healthcare equipment financing portfolio

Kotak Mahindra Bank said that it has acquired the agri and healthcare equipment financing portfolio of global asset finance company DLL India. Kotak will gain access to over 25,000 customers with a total standard loan outstanding of around ₹ 582 cr. Moreover, Kotak has also acquired the non-performing assets portfolio with a total loan outstanding of around ₹ 69 crore

NBFCs, HFCs securitisation volumes almost doubled to Rs 33,000 crore in April-June: Report

Securitisation volumes originated by Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFC)s and Housing Finance Companies (HFC)s have almost doubled to around Rs 33,000 crore in the first quarter of the current financial year, a report said. The volume of such transactions is expected to cross Rs 1.5 lakh crore in FY23, Icra Ratings said in a report.

Adani Ports, Gadot Win Bid To Acquire Israel's Haifa Port

A joint venture between Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ), India's largest private multi-port operator and Israel's Gadot Chemicals Tankers and Terminals Ltd won the bid for Haifa, by reportedly quoting 4.1 billion shekels ($1.18 billion).

Haifa is Israel's second largest port and serves as a major trade hub on the country's Mediterranean coast.

Centre extends scheme for Rebate of State and Central Taxes and Levies till March 2024

NRTI re-named as Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya; Gets nod for becoming a Central University

The National Road Transport Institute in Gujarat will be upgraded to a central university and will be known as the Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya. The cabinet has also approved the setting up of the university. The Gati Shakti University will become the second central university in the state following the Central University of Gujarat.
