'Dahi-Handi' to be an official sport in Maharashtra, 'Govindas' to get jobs under sports category: CM Shinde

'Dahi-Handi' will now be recognized as an official sport in Maharashtra, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced.

Maharashtra CM also announced that "Pro-Dahi-Handi" competitions will also be organised in the state.

Insurance cover will be Rs 10 lakh if any Govinda loses his life, and Rs 5 lakh if they get partially handicapped.

The 9th India-Thailand Joint Commission Meeting concluded in Bangkok.

The meeting was co-chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand Don Pramudwinai, and India's Minister of External Affairs Dr S Jaishankar.

Both sides discussed advancing contacts in political, economic, security as well as defence, connectivity and health domains.

DCGI chief Venugopal Somani’s tenure extended by 3 months

The tenure of Dr V G Somani as the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) has been extended by three months.

DCGI heads the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) which is responsible to ensure the quality of drug supply across the country.

Dr Somani was appointed DCGI for a term of three years on August 14, 2019.

FSIB recommends Mohammad Mustafa as NABARD Chairman

The Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB) recommended Mohammad Mustafa as the Chairman of NABARD.

Mustafa, a 1995 batch IAS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, served as the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of SIDBI.

The final decision on the recommendation of FSIB would be taken by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, headed by PM Modi.

Indian, Chinese troops to take part in Vostok-2022 military exercises in Russia

China said that its troops will take part in the Vostok-2022 military exercises in Russia to be held later this month.

India, Belarus, Tajikistan, Mongolia, and other countries will also participate in the drills.

Last year also, India attended Exercise ZAPAD 2021 drills in Russia in which 17 countries including China and Pakistan took part.
