New Zealand's Greg Barclay re-elected ICC chairman

Greg Barclay has been re-elected unopposed as ICC chairman for another two-year term after Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) chief Tavengwa Mukuhlani pulled out of the contest.

Jay Shah replaced former president Sourav Ganguly as the BCCI representative on the ICC board while Arun Dhumal will be sitting on the chief executives’ committee.

Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar is accompanying Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, who is leading the Indian delegation to the ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit and the 17th East Asia Summit, which are both being held in Cambodia. He met his Ukrainian counterpart, Dmytro Kuleba on the sidelines of the programs in Cambodia.

RL Kashyap, Indian Mathematician & Professor Died

RL Kashyap dies on Nov 11 at age of 84. RL Kashyap was honored with Padma Shri in 2021 by the President of India. In 1982, he represented the Kashyap Information Criterion (KIC) to select the best model from a set of mathematical candidate models with different numbers of unknown parameters. These parameters are adjusted to adapt the models to data.

Cop 27: Breakthrough Agenda countries set priorities

Signatories to decarbonisation initiative, the Breakthrough Agenda, have mapped out 25 actions to be taken by next year's UN Cop 28 climate summit, to speed the transition to a low-carbon economy.

The group has 47 signatories, including Australia, China, the UAE, the European Commission and all G7 nations.

India is also a signatory to the coalition.

ASEAN agrees in principle to admit East Timor as 11th member

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) has agreed in principle to admit East Timor as the group’s 11th member.

The half-island nation, officially called Timor Leste, will also be granted observer status at high-level ASEAN meetings.

UN announces high-tech, satellite-based global methane detection system

The Methane Alert and Response System (MARS) was launched at the 27th Conference of Parties (COP27) to the UNFCCC in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.

MARS is a part of global efforts to slow climate change by tackling the global warming gas.

The new satellite-based system will now help governments detect methane emissions and tackle them.

Nine New Countries Join Global Offshore Wind Alliance (GOWA) at COP27 in Egypt

Belgium, Colombia, Germany, Ireland, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, the UK, and the US have joined the Global Offshore Wind Alliance (GOWA) during COP27 in Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt.

The alliance aims to bring together governments, the private sector, international organisations and other stakeholders to accelerate the deployment of offshore wind power.

Uttar Pradesh to Host Khelo India National University Games in 2023-24

The Uttar Pradesh government will be hosting the Khelo India National University Games in 2023-24 in four cities of the state. These cities are Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Varanasi and Noida.

Around 4,500 athletes, representing 150 universities across the country will be vying for top honours in 20 disciplines, including rowing, basketball, judo, kabaddi, wrestling, swimming etc.
