RBI and NPCI Launch 'UPI One World' for Foreigners at G20 with Transcorp @trans

RBI’s Deputy Governor (Shri Rabi Sankar), Shri Nandan Nilekani and NPCI’s MD & CEO (Shri Dilip Asbe) have launched ‘UPI One World’ for foreign nationals visiting India.

Transcorp UPI One World wallets will initially be offered via the Transcorp-Cheq app to all G20 nationals and Non-Resident Indians (NRIs).

The annual International IP Index evaluates the protection of IP rights in 55 of the world’s leading economies, together representing around 90% of global GDP.

Unemployment rate at 5-year low of 4.1% in 2021-22, shows PLFS data

India’s unemployment rate dropped to a five-year low in July-June 2021-22 to 4.1 per cent, according to the latest annual Periodic Labour Force Survey , released by the National Statistical Office.

The unemployment rate under the so-called “usual status” during the one-year period declined for the fourth consecutive year since it was launched in April 2017.

Maharashtra: Centre approves renaming of Aurangabad as Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Osmanabad as Dharashiv

The Centre on 24 February approved the renaming of two Maharashtra cities - Aurangabad and Osmanabad. Aurangabad will now be renamed as `Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar' while Osmanabad will be called `Dharashiv'.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said that central government had "no objection" to changing the names of both districts of Maharashtra.

IREDA to set up office in Gujarat's GIFT city to finance renewable energy projects

State-owned Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (Ireda) plans to set up an office in Gujarat’s GIFT City to finance Renewable Energy projects in foreign currency.

The office at GIFT City, Gandhinagar, will be classified as an overseas office, allowing Ireda avoid foreign exchange hedging costs.

India's forex reserves drop by USD 5.68 bn to USD 561.27 bn as on Feb 17

Data released in the previous week showed that India's foreign exchange reserves dropped by $8.31 billion to $566.94 billion as of February 10.

India's reserves fell 8.3%, logging the biggest decline in more than 11 months in the previous week.

In October 2021, the country's forex kitty had reached an all-time high of USD 645 billion.

RBI imposes restrictions on 5 co-operative banks

The Reserve Bank of India has imposed several restrictions on five cooperative banks, including on withdrawals, in the wake of the deteriorating financial condition of the lenders.

The restrictions will remain in place for six months.

With restrictions in place, the banks, without prior approval of RBI, cannot grant loans, make any investment, incur any liability.
