GST collections rise 12 per cent to Rs 1.49 lakh-crore in February

Over 1.49 lakh crore rupees gross Goods and Service, Tax revenue was collected in February. GST revenue collection has registered 12 per cent growth in February in comparison to the same period of the previous financial year. In February 2022, over one lakh 33 thousand crore rupees were collected as GST revenue.

National record holder Aishwarya Babu banned by NADA for four years

India's top triple-jumper Aishwarya Babu has been banned by the National Anti-Doping Agency's disciplinary panel for four years for using a prohibited anabolic steroid. She had won the triple jump gold in the championships with a national record-breaking lunge of 14.14 metres. NADA said the substance Aishwarya used was an "anabolic steroid" listed under WADA's 2022 banned.

HDFC first private bank to tie up with IRCTC for co-branded credit card

India’s largest private sector bank HDFC announced a partnership with IRCTC to launch “IRCTC HDFC Bank Credit Card” which provides exclusive benefits on bookings through IRCTC website & app, lounge access, besides others. Earlier, IRCTC has only partnered with SBI and Bank of Baroda for this travel segment of the card.

Axis Bank completes acquisition of Citibank’s India consumer business

Mumbai-headquartered Axis Bank has completed the acquisition of the India consumer business of the Citigroup-owned foreign bank Citibank for Rs 12,325 crore prior to evaluation of the closing position of Citibank India's assets, assets under management, and liabilities as of January 31, 2023. Post evaluation, the deal is valued at around Rs 11,603 crore.

RBI Launches Two Surveys To Gather 'Useful Inputs' For Monetary Policy

The Reserve Bank of India launched two key surveys, results of which provide "useful inputs" for the central bank's bi-monthly monetary policy. One of the surveys is to know inflation expectations of households and the other is to gauze the consumer confidence. They are the Inflation Expectations Survey of Households (IESH) Consumer Confidence Survey (CCS).

Mumbai jumps to 37th place globally in price growth in luxury housing

Mumbai's rank has improved to 37th from 92nd in a global list of movement in prices of luxury homes as the city saw an appreciation of 6.4 per cent during 2022 calendar year, according to Knight Frank India. The value of Prime International Residential Index (PIRI 100) that tracks the movement in luxury house prices across the world increased by 5.2 per cent YoY in 2022.

Govt launches Grievance Appellate Committee as part of IT Rules

The government launched the Grievance Appellate Committee (GAC), a faceless dispute resolution mechanism that makes digital platforms, big and small, accountable to DigitalNagriks. The GAC was one of the provisions in the recently amended Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021. Three such bodies have been constituted.

Cabinet Approves Procurement of 70 Trainer Aircraft From Hindustan Aeronautics For Rs 6,828 Crore

The Union Cabinet has approved procurement of 70 HTT-40 Basic Trainer Aircraft from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for the Indian Air Force (IAF) at a cost of Rs 6,828.36 crore. The aircraft will be supplied over a period of six years. HTT-40 is a turboprop aircraft designed to have good low-speed handling qualities and provide better training effectiveness.

Indian, Japanese air forces take part in Shinyuu Maitri bilateral exercise

The Indian Air Force (IAF) is participating in the two-day Shinyuu Maitri bilateral exercise with the Japan Air Self-Defence Force (JASDF). The exercise is being organised on the sidelines of the Indo-Japan Joint Army Exercise, Dharma Guardian. Dharma Guardian commenced on February 13 in Komatsu, Japan, and will conclude on March 2.

Capital markets regulator Sebi has imposed a penalty of Rs 6 lakh on Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) for flouting norms in a case pertaining to data entries of Sikkim-based clients.
