RBI, Central Bank of UAE sign MoU to promote innovation in financial products and services

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates (CBUAE) signed an MoU in Abu Dhabi, to enhance cooperation and jointly enable innovation in financial products and services.

CBUAE and RBI will jointly conduct proof-of-concept (PoC) and pilot(s) of bilateral CBDC bridge to facilitate cross-border CBDC transactions of remittances and trade.

RBI's Shaktikanta Das named Governor of the Year at Central Banking Awards 2023

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) governor, Shaktikanta Das, has been named Governor of the Year by the Central Banking Awards 2023.

Sh. Das has helped maneuver the ship as it faced multiple obstacles since his appointment, the Covid-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war being the two major tests.

Shaktikanta Das is serving as the current & 25th governor of RBI.

India & World Bank signs loan agreement for construction of Green National Highway Corridors Project in 4 States

India and the World Bank have signed a loan agreement for the construction of the Green National Highway Corridors Project in four States. These States are Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh.

The agreement has been signed for the construction of 781 kilometers in these States, with loan assistance of 500 million dollars.

Indian Navy’s P8I to participate in anti-submarine warfare exercise Sea Dragon 23

The Indian Navy’s P8I aircraft will participate in Sea Dragon 23, the third edition of the coordinated multilateral anti-submarine warfare (ASW) exercise for long-range maritime reconnaissance aircraft.

The exercise, which began on March 15 and will continue until March 30, stresses coordinated anti-submarine warfare amongst the participating countries.

Govt appoints Deepak Mohanty as PFRDA chairman,Mamta Shankar Appointed As Whole-Time Member

The government has appointed Deepak Mohanty as chairman of Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA).

He replaced Supratim Bandyopadhyay, whose term ended in January.

Prior to this, Mohanty, a former executive director of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), served as a member of PFRDA.

CRISIL forecasts India’s GDP growth at 6% for next FY against NSO's projection of 7%

CRISIL expects India’s GDP (gross domestic product) growth to touch 6% in fiscal 6% in fiscal 2024, compared with 7% estimated by the National Statistical Organization for fiscal 2023, the rating agency said.

The agency also sees the economy averaging a growth rate of 6.8% over the next five fiscals.

Delhi ranks 4 on list of world’s most polluted cities

Delhi ranked fourth on a list of 50 of the world’s most polluted cities in terms of PM2.5 levels in 2022, according to the World Air Quality Report prepared by IQ Air.

Delhi had an average PM2.5 level of 92.6 μg/m3 in 2022, a little below the average of 96.4 μg/m3 in 2021.

The most polluted city in the world was found to be Lahore, followed by Hotan in China.
