Bihu performance by over 11,000 folk dancers and drummers in Guwahati enters Guinness World Records

Assam etched its name in the Guinness World Records with 11,304 dancers and drummers performing 'Bihu' dance and playing 'dhol' in a single venue. The Assam government selected the artists from all across the state and their performances have been natured by master Bihu trainers. As a token of appreciation, state government announced to give 25,000 rupees to each artist.

Net Direct tax collection increases by 172.83 percent in the last nine years: Govt data

Direct Tax collections have witnessed quantum jump in the last nine years. In these years, the gross tax collections have increased by 172.83 percent. According to the provisional data released by the CBDT, more than 19 lakh 68 thousand crore rupees gross direct tax were collected in the last fiscal which was seven lakh 21 thousand crore rupees in 2013-2014.

Nepal, India to sign cross-border digital payments deal to boost trade

Nepal and India are set to sign an agreement for cross-border digital payments using e-wallet, which is expected to boost trade and tourism by eliminating currency hassles. The accord will allow Indian tourists in Nepal to make digital payments using Indian e-wallets like BharatPe, PhonePe, Google Pay and Paytm.

T.N. Governor Ravi grants assent to Bill banning online gambling

Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi on April 10, 2023, granted his assent to the re-adopted Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Online Gambling and Regulation of Online Games Bill, 2022 (L.A. Bill No. 53 of 2022). The Governor had earlier returned the Bill, following which the Assembly re-adopted it and sent it to the Raj Bhavan.

YES Bank first Indian company with over 50 lakh shareholders

Private sector lender YES Bank has become the first Indian company to have over 50 lakh shareholders, according to the shareholding pattern of the bank on March-end. India's forex reserves up $6.31 billion to $584.76 billion, at 9-month high

India's foreign exchange reserves increased by $6.3 billion to jump to $584.76 billion for the week ended 7 April, the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) statistical supplement showed. This the highest in nine months. Gold reserves rose by $1.496 billion to $46.696 billion, the RBI said. The Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) were up by $58 million to $18.45 billion.

EXERCISE COPE INDIA 2023- India - US

The second phase of Exercise Cope India 23 commenced at Air Force Station Kalaikunda. This segment of the exercise will witness participation of B1B bombers of the United States Air Force (USAF). Indian Highways Management Company Limited (IHMCL), a company incorporated by NHAI to carry out Electronic Tolling, inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Nagarjunasagar-Srisailam Tiger Reserve spread across the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The FASTag system employs Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to enable automatic toll payments.
