FM Nirmala Sitharaman directs CBIC to implement action plan to increase taxpayer base through enhanced use of technology

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has directed the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) to implement an action plan to increase the taxpayer base through enhanced use of technology. Ms Sitharaman said this while chairing a review meeting with CBIC in New Delhi.

First Batch of Women Officers Commissioned into Regiment of Artillery of Indian Army

In the Indian army, for the first time, five Women Cadets got commissioned into the Regiment of Artillery at Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai. Out of total 186 Short Service Commissioned Officers, 121 men Cadets and 36 Women Cadets were inducted into various Arms and Services of the Indian Army while 29 officers are from Bhutan.

Banks end FY23 with a robust 15.4 pc credit growth: RBI Data

Scheduled commercial banks (SCBs) reported a robust credit growth of 15.4 per cent in FY23 against 9.7 per cent in FY22, powered by growth in personal loans, and loans to services sector and agriculture and allied activities. Personal loans registered a growth of 20.6 per cent in FY23 as compared with 12.6 per cent in the year ago period, primarily driven by ‘housing loans'
