Indian coal stock position crosses 110 million tonnes logging increase of more than 44 %

Overall coal stock position has touched 110.58 million tonnes as of the 13th of June. The Coal Ministry said, this indicates a substantial increase of 44.22 per cent as compared to the stock of 76.67 MT last year. It added that this higher coal stock position indicates the commitment to maintaining an ample supply of coal by the Ministry.

UN General Assembly has adopted a Resolution to establish a new Memorial Wall for fallen Peacekeepers, piloted by India. Centre reduces 5% basic import duty on edible oils to ensure affordable prices for consumers

The Government has reduced the basic import duty on edible oils to ensure their availability to consumers at affordable prices. The basic import duty on refined soyabean oil and refined sunflower oil was reduced from 17.5 percent to 12.5 percent. This came into effect on 16th April 2023 and will remain in force till the 31st of March next year.

Tata Steel Joins Forces With Germany's SMS Group For Decarbonisation Technology

Tata Steel and Germany’s SMS group have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the decarbonisation of steel making process.

As part of the MoU, the companies shall undertake further technical discussions and initiate actions for conducting a Joint Industrial Demonstration of the EASyMelt technology, developed by the SMS group.

India’s overall exports in May 2023 stands at US$ 60.29 Billion

The Ministry said, the country’s overall exports including merchandise and services are estimated to be over 60 billion US dollars in May this year. Merchandise exports were 34.98 billion US dollars in the last month while the estimated value of services export for May 2023 is 25.30 billion US dollars.

Cyclone Biparjoy makes landfall; strong winds, rains in Kutch, Saurashtra

Cyclone Biparjoy made its much awaited landfall near Jakhau Port in Gujarat's Kutch district on 15th June evening after churning across the Arabian Sea for over 10 days as multi-agency response teams remained alert for relief and rescue efforts, while one lakh people were moved to safer places. Landfall indicates a cyclonic storm moving over land after being over water.
