India gets its 54th Tiger Reserve : Veerangana Durgavati Tiger Reserve in Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh

Until now, MP was home to six tiger reserves – Kanha, Bandhavgarh, Satpura, Pench, Panna and Sanjay-Dubri.

MP retained the "tiger state" status in the 2022 census with the number of big cats in the state rising to 785 from 526 in 2018.

The new tiger reserve, spread across Sagar, Damoh and Narsinghpur districts.

ICICI Lombard General Insurance said its Managing Director and CEO Bhargav Dasgupta has resigned after serving the company for 14 years.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) appointed Bhargav Dasgupta as Vice-President (market solutions) for a period of three years.

Dasgupta replaces Ashok Lavasa, former Finance Secretary and Election Commissioner of India.

SIDBI signs pact with DLAI to boost fintech sector

The Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) inked an agreement with the Digital Lenders Association of India (DLAI) to boost the country's fintech sector.

The MoU aims for collaborations with SIDBI to develop standard protocols to expedite the adoption of digital lending partnerships including alliances between banks and Lending Service Providers (LSPs).

The World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) initiated the World Day of the Deaf in 1958.

The theme for the World Deaf Day 2023 is "Ear and Hearing Care for All".

Northeast’s mithun gets ‘food animal’ tag and its meat a leg-up

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) recognised Mithun, a semi-domesticated bovine animal as a food animal.

Found in altitudes ranging between 300 to 3,000 meters, mithuns have traditionally been part of the culture of various tribes in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur and Mizoram.

World Rivers Day 2023 - 24th September

World Rivers Day takes place on the fourth Sunday in September each year and this year it will be marked on September 24.
