Actor Rajkummar Rao appointed Election Commission's national icon

The Election Commission appointed actor Rajkummar Rao as its national icon.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar formally appointed Rao to the title. National icons are appointed to motivate voters to participate in elections.

Earlier this month, the EC announced that over 161 million people across five states states will vote in the upcoming assembly elections.

India set to derive 18% of its energy requirements via solar sources by 2023, IEA reports

India is on track to reach its 2030 target of having 50% of its electricity capacity generated from non-fossil sources well ahead of the end of the decade, IEA’s World Energy Outlook 2023 said.

This achievement is dependent on the full utilisation of the new solar PV module manufacturing capacity established under the Production-Linked Incentives (PLI) program by 2026.

Robert Fico to become Slovakia's new prime minister

Leftist leader Robert Fico was appointed Slovakia's prime minister for the fourth time.

President Zuzana Caputova appointed Fico and his cabinet after his SMER-SSD party won the Sept. 30 election and formed a coalition with the centre-left HLAS and nationalist SNS parties.

Fico quit as prime minister in 2018.

The RBI asked private banks & wholly-owned subsidiaries of foreign banks to ensure at least two Whole Time Directors (WTDs), including the MD & CEO, on their boards.

"In compliance to these instructions, banks that currently do not meet the minimum requirement are advised to submit their proposals for the appointment of WTD(s) within a period of four months,".

Govt approves inclusion of Jamrani Dam under PMKSY-AIBP

The government approved the inclusion of the Jamrani Dam Multipurpose Project of Uttarakhand under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana-Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (PMKSY-AIBP), which will cost Rs 2,584 crore.

The project envisages the construction of a dam near Jamrani village across river Gola, a tributary of river Ram Ganga, in the Nainital district.
