IPS officers Arvind Kumar & Samant Kumar Goel were appointed chiefs of the IB & RAW respectively .Arvind Kumar will take the charge of the IB from Rajiv Jain, while Goel will succeed Anil K Dhasmana as the chief of RAW.
They have been appointed for a fixed 2-year tenure.

Government plans to provide broadband connectivity under BharatNet Project to all gram panchayats in the country. According to Electronics and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad 128870 gram panchayats have been connected with optical fibre till date.

Veteran freedom fighter Mohan Ranade, who participated in the Goa liberation movement, died at the age of 90 years. He was arrested by Portuguese police in 1955 and incarcerated at the Fort of Caxias near Lisbon in Portugal for 6 years.
Ranade was released in January 1969.
