GSMA elects Telefonica CEO José María Álvarez-Pallete López as Chair, Airtel CEO Vittal as Deputy Chair

The GSM Association (GSMA) elected José María Álvarez-Pallete López, the chief executive of Telefónica Group, as Chair, and Gopal Vittal, the chief executive of India’s Bharti Airtel Group as Deputy Chair.

The executives are members of the new GSMA Board of Directors elected for a two-year term.

The GSMA Board includes 26 members.

Law Commission constituted after 4 years; retired Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi appointed chairperson

The Central Government has constituted the 22nd Law Commission of India with former Karnataka High Court Chief Justice Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi as its Chairperson. The Centre has also appointed former Kerala High Court judge Justice KT Sankaran,Prof. Anand Paliwal, Prof. DP Verma, Prof.(Dr) Raka Arya and Shri M. Karunanithi as members of the Commission.

World Meteorological Organization said in a report that Each of the last eight years had been hotter than any year prior to 2015, as the COP27 UN Climate Summit opened in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.The report said that Earth has warmed more than 1.1 degrees Celsius since the late 19th century, with about half of that increase occurring in the past 30 years.

DRDO launches testing, evaluation facility for sonar systems of Indian Navy

Indian Army reserves Drone Kill Systems, IWTS for MSMEs, starups under Make II projects

The Indian Army has reserved Drone Kill System and Infantry Training Weapon Simulator (IWTS) projects for MSMEs and startups under the Make II scheme.

To give a further boost to the ongoing projects, Indian Army approved Project Sanction Orders (PSOs) of five Make II projects.

Each IWTS will facilitate training of 10 personnel at any one point of time.

Russia becomes India's top oil supplier in Oct, surpasses Saudi Arabia and Iraq

Surpassing traditional suppliers Saudi Arabia and Iraq, Russia has emerged as the top oil supplier to India in October. The information provided by energy cargo tracker Vortexa shows that Russia, which made up for just 0.2 per cent of all oil imported by India in the year to March 31, 2022, supplied 935,556 barrels per day of crude oil to India in October-the highest ever.

World'd first Vedic Clock to be installed in Ujjain, MP Minister Mohan Yadav lays foundation stone

The world’s first Vedic Clock will be installed in Ujjain – the city of Lord Malakal. The foundation stone was laid at the 300-year-old Jiwaji Observatory in Ujjain for this mega project, being taken up by the state government at an estimated cost of Rs 1.62 crore. The observatory was constructed by Maharaja Sawai Raja Jaisingh of Jaipur in 1719.
