Tamil film 'Koozhangal' is India’s official entry to the Oscars 2022

Tamil film 'Koozhangal', has been announced as India’s official entry to the Oscars 2022. Shaji N. Karun, the Chairperson of the 15-member Selection Committee, set up by the Film Federation of India, made the announcement. 'Koozhangal' had also won the prestigious Tiger Award, the top honour at the 50th edition of the International Film Festival Rotterdam.

Matchboxes to get costlier, price to increase after 14 years

After a period of 14 years, All India Chamber of Matches in Sivakasi has decided to increase the cost of matchboxes. The cost of a matchbox will be doubled from Rs 1 to Rs 2. The last hike in prices was in the year 2007 when the rate of a single box was increased from 50 paise to Rs 1. Prior to that, in 1995, the cost of matchbox was increased from 25p to 50p.
