Veteran Filmmaker And Dadasaheb Phalke Awardee K Viswanath Dies at 92

Dadasaheb Phalke awardee and renowned filmmaker Kasinadhuni Viswanath died at the age of 92.

Viswanath, popularly known as 'Kalatapasvi', who was born in February 1930 in Andhra Pradesh.

He became the 48th recipient of the Dadasaheb Phalke award, the highest recognition in Indian cinema. He was conferred with the award for the year 2016

Gymnast Dipa Karmakar handed 21-month ban after failing dope test

Star gymnast Dipa Karmakar has been handed a 21-month ban for failing a dope test conducted by International Testing Agency.

Karmakar's dope sample collected out-of-competition by the ITA was found to contain Higenamine , which is a prohibited substance under World Anti-Doping Agency Code.

Sh. Amit Shah lays foundation stone for India's fifth Nano urea plant in Deoghar

Union Home Minister Amit Shah laid the foundation stone of a ₹ 450-crore nano urea plant and township of the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative (IFFCO) in Jharkhand's Deoghar.

This will be India's fifth nano urea plant. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the world's first nano urea plant in Gujarat last year, according to IFFCO.

India's G20 presidency: Gujarat's Rann of Kutch to host first Tourism Working Group meet

As part of India's G20 presidency, Gujarat will host the first Tourism Working Group (TWG) meeting in the state's Rann of Kutch from February 7 to 9.

The TWG meeting, which will be attended by Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy, will be the second G20 event in the state after the 'Business 20 Inception' programme held in Gandhinagar last month.

Govt sets up task force to promote SSP fertiliser

The government has set up a task force under the aegis of Fertiliser Association of India to find out ways to improve the quality of Single Super Phosphate (SSP) fertiliser and promote its use as an alternative to Di-ammonium Phosphate (DAP).The government is promoting the combination of SSP and urea in the ratio of 3:1 in order to encourage its use among farmers.

Jharkhand gets Rs 5,271 cr from Budget for rail infrastructure augmentation

Jharkhand has been allocated a whopping Rs 5,271 crore from the Union Budget to augment the railway infrastructure of the state.

The annual average budget outlay for Jharkhand was around 11 times higher than what the state used to get between 2009 and 2014.

As many as 57 stations will be redeveloped in the state and they would be made world-class stations.

Pervez Musharraf, Pakistan’s former military ruler, passes away

Pervez Musharraf, Pakistan’s former military dictator who ruled for nearly a decade from 1999 but spent later years fighting a litany of charges in exile, died in Dubai. He was 79.

Musharraf, a retired four-star general, passed away after a long battle with a rare disease named amyloidosis.

In 2001, Musharraf became president and held power for seven years.
