Asian Games 2023 Highlights: Indian women’s team beats Sri Lanka by 19 runs, wins country’s maiden cricket gold

Indian women's cricket team on Monday won their maiden gold medal in Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China by defeating Sri Lanka by 19 runs in final.

Bangladesh took the bronze after restricting Pakistan to 64-9 and crawling to their target of 65 in 18.2 overs in their medal playoff.

This was India's second gold medal after 10m air rifle team clinched gold.

Jeff Bezos's Blue Origin names former Amazon executive Dave Limp as CEO

The chief executive officer of Jeff Bezos's space company Blue Origin, Bob Smith, will step down at the end of the year to be replaced by former Amazon executive Dave Limp, who ran products such as Kindle.

Limp, a former senior vice president at Amazon who led the company's consumer devices unit, will become Blue Origin's CEO on December 4.

RBI cancels licence of Mumbai-based 'The Kapol Co-operative Bank'

The RBI said it has cancelled the licence of Mumbai-based The Kapol Co-operative Bank Limited as the lender does not have adequate capital and earning prospects.

On liquidation, every depositor would be entitled to receive deposit insurance claim amount of his/her deposits up to a monetary ceiling of Rs 5 lakh from Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation(DICGC).

RBI imposes penalty on SBI, Indian Bank, Punjab & Sind Bank

The Reserve Bank imposed penalties on three state-owned banks, including SBI and Indian Bank, for violation of various regulatory norms. A penalty of Rs 1.3 crore has been imposed on the State Bank of India, Rs 1.62 crore on Indian Bank and Rs. 1 crore on Punjab & Sind Bank.

The RBI has also imposed a penalty of Rs 8.80 lakh on Fedbank Financial Services Limited.

RBI imposes restrictions on Ahmedabad-based Colour Merchants Co-op Bank

The Reserve Bank has imposed several restrictions on Ahmedabad-based Colour Merchants Co-operative Bank, including capping withdrawal at Rs 50,000 per customer, in the wake of the deteriorating financial condition of the lender. The restrictions, imposed in the form of 'directions', have come into effect with the close of business on September 25, 2023.

Google unveils new subsea cable system to boost internet infrastructure

Google announced a new transatlantic subsea cable system to connect Portugal, Bermuda, and the US, as the tech giant aims to boost its internet infrastructure.

Called Nuvem and named after the Portuguese word for "cloud," Nuvem will improve network resiliency across the Atlantic, helping meet growing demand for digital services.

Air India signs codeshare agreement with AIX Connect

Air India has entered into a codeshare agreement with AIX Connect (formerly known as Air Asia India).

Air India will add its ‘AI’ designator code to over 100 flights a day operated by AIX Connect on 21 routes. More routes under the codeshare agreement will be added progressively.

AIX Connect is a 100% subsidiary of Air India.

Japanese apparel retailer Uniqlo has appointed Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif as its first brand ambassador in India as and attempts to woo affluent shoppers and plans to add to more stores.

Kaif joins the ranks of tennis star Roger Federer, who was appointed as Uniqlo's global brand ambassador in 2018.

India win historic gold in equestrian team dressage at Asian Games after 41 years

India claimed the team dressage gold in equestrian sport at the Asian Games, breaking a 41-year-old jinx at the continental event.

The team comprising Divyakriti Singh astride Adrenalin Firfod, Hriday Vipul Chhed (Chemxpro Emerald) and Anush Agarwalla (Etro) aggregated 209.205 percentage points on way to the top podium finish.

Over 10 lakh people joined the organised work force during July, according to latest data from the National Statistical Office(NSO),Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.

According to this data,number of new Employee Provident Fund(EPF)subscribers during July 2023 stood at 1,027,145,which included 752,164 male members & 274,967 female members & 12 from others.
