Moody's cuts 2020 GDP growth forecast to 5.4% from 6.6%

Moody's Investors Service has cut India’s 2020 GDP growth forecast to 5.4% from 6.6%. At the same time, it has cut the 2021 GDP growth forecast to 5.8 percent from 6.7 percent. In the second quarter of the current fiscal year, GDP growth fell to 4.5%.

Cabinet Approves amendment of DTAA with Sri Lanka

India’s Union Cabinet has approved amendments to the existing Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement with Sri Lanka, aimed at curbing tax evasion. The existing DTAA between the 2 nations was signed on 22 January 2013 & entered into force on 22 October 2013.

PAN will become inoperative after March 31 if not linked with Aadhaar: Income Tax dept

Permanent Account Number will become inoperative if it is not linked with Aadhaar by March 31, 2020, the Income Tax department has said. The deadline for linking of PAN & Aadhar has been extended several times & the current deadline ends on March 31, 2020.

Antarctica recorded the hottest temperature of 20.75 degrees Celsius

The WMO announced that for the 1st time in record Antarctica has recorded its hottest temperature ever, 20.75 Degree Celsius. According to UN, the Antarctic stores more than 70% of world’s fresh water. If it melts, the sea level will increase by 50-60 m.

Govt to infuse Rs 1,300 Cr in Exim Bank next fiscal

The government has decided to pump Rs 1,300 Cr into state-owned Exim Bank to fund its business growth. Last year, the government doubled its authorised capital from Rs 10,000 Cr to Rs 20,000 Cr. Exim Bank is the principal export credit agency in India.
