Centre okays Rs 107 cr for firefighting facilities at Haldia Dock Complex

The Ministry of Shipping approved Rs 107 crore for augmentation of firefighting facilities on five jetties of Haldia Dock Complex, Kolkata Port. This is to enable the Haldia Dock Complex in the safe handling of the movement of petrochemical products.

NABARD extends grant assistance of Rs 221.89 cr to support 298 watershed projects in Karnataka

In Karnataka, NABARD, observing its 39th Foundation Day, has extended grant assistance of 221.89 crore rupees to support 298 watershed projects in over three lakh hectares benefitting 66,500 families. The State has about 75 per cent of rainfed area.

Tamil Nadu launches television-based learning programme for 10th standard students

TN CM launched a television-based learning programme for 10th standard students. The Kalvi channel will air two-and-a-half hours of teaching programmes during weekdays. It is aimed to help students to continue their studies through an alternative method.

IIT Kanpur develops UV sanitizing device 'SHUDDH' to make room COVID free

The Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT-K) has developed an Ultraviolet (UV) sanitising product named ‘Shuddh’ that can disinfect a room in 15 minutes. It can also be used to prevent infection in hospitals, hotels, malls, offices and schools.

RBI sets up panel to study QR codes for contactless transactions

The Reserve Bank of India has set up a high-level committee to study the use of Quick Response (QR) codes to process contactless transactions in light of the ongoing Covid-19 situation. Professor Deepak Pathak of IIT Bombay heads the six-member panel.
