Mark Selby (UK) claimed his fourth World Championship title with an 18-15 victory over Shaun Murphy at a sold-out Crucible Theatre. Now level with Scotland's John Higgins on four, only Hendry (seven), Ronnie O'Sullivan, Steve Davis, and Ray Reardon (all six) have won more world titles than Selby in the modern era.

Retired Justice Gita Mittal to be awarded Arline Pacht Global Vision Award by International Association of Women Judges

Former Chief Justice of Jammu & Kashmir High Court, Justice Gita Mittal, has been declared as one of the two recipients (other recipient- Margarita Luna Ramos from Mexico)of the Arline Pacht Global Vision Award for 2021.

International Association of Women Judges (IAWJ) instituted this award in 2016.

Justice Mittal would be the first Indian judge to receive the award.

DMK chief Stalin appointed as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu governor Banwarilal Purohit has appointed Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) chief MK Stalin as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu.

The 68-year-old is the son of the former five-term Tamil Nadu chief minister, the late M Karunanidhi.

The DMK-led alliance won 159 seats, well ahead of the majority mark of 118 seats. The party alone won 133 seats in the election.

Gymnast Pranati Nayak set to compete at Tokyo Olympics

Indian gymnast Pranati Nayak, who had claimed a bronze in the vault at the Asian Artistic Gymnastics Championships in 2019, is set to compete at the Tokyo Olympics after qualifying through the continental quota.

The 26-year-old from West Bengal is the second reserve behind Sri Lanka's Elpitiya Badalge Dona Milka Geh for the Asian quota.

SC strikes down West Bengal's law on regulating real estate

The Supreme Court struck down West Bengal's law on regulating the real estate sector saying it was "unconstitutional" as the state's statute encroached upon the Centre's Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act (RERA). The judgement came on a plea of 'Forum For People's Collective Efforts', an umbrella homebuyers association that challenged the 2017 act.

India notifies digital tax threshold of Rs 2 crore and 300,000 users

India notified a revenue threshold of Rs 2 crore and a limit of 300,000 users for non-resident technology firms such as Google, Facebook, Netflix, to pay tax in India under new or revised bilateral tax pacts.

This is part of the Significant Economic Presence (SEP) principle, which was introduced in the Finance Bill 2018-19.

Four-time Asian Games equestrian medallist Ghulam Mohammed Khan dies

Asian Games equestrian gold medallist Ghulam Mohammed Khan has died at age 74.

At the New Delhi 1982 Games, Khan won a team eventing gold medal as well as individual silver behind compatriot Raghubir Singh.

Four years later at the Seoul 1986 Asian Games, Khan won bronze medals in the team eventing and dressage competitions.
