Prime Minister participates in 21st Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation

The 21st meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of State was held on 17 September 2021 in Dushanbe in hybrid format.

The meeting was chaired by H.E. Emomali Rahmon, the President of Tajikistan.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed the Summit via video-link. At Dushanbe, India was represented by External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar.

India’s first pilot plant to convert high ash coal to methanol to accelerate India’s journey towards clean technology

India has developed an indigenous technology to convert high ash Indian coal to methanol and established its first pilot plant in Hyderabad. This technology will help the country move towards the adoption of clean technology and promote the use of methanol as a transportation fuel (blending with petrol), thus reducing crude oil imports.

Renowned astrophysicist Thanu Padmanabhan passes away

Thanu Padmanabhan, a distinguished professor at Pune's Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics and a cosmologist passed away.
