Imtiaz Ali appointed ambassador of Russian Film Festival in India

Director-producer Imtiaz Ali has been roped in as the ambassador of the Russian Film Festival in India.

As part of the festival, ten notable Russian films of various genres are being premiered for Indian audiences on Disney+ Hotstar from October 16 to November 27.

Russia and India are cooperating in the field of cinematography through the BRICS.

Finance Ministry Launches Blockchain-Based Pilot Project To Improve Efficiency In Logistics Industry

The central board of indirect taxes and customs under the country’s finance ministry has launched a pilot electronic cargo tracking system (ECTS) project based on blockchain technology. This aims to achieve secure documentation and GPS-based tracking of containers.

RBI imposes ₹1 crore penalty on Paytm Payments Bank

RBI has imposed a penalty of ₹1 crore on Paytm Payments Bank Limited (PPBL) and ₹27.78 lakh on Western Union Financial Services for non-compliance with certain directions.

As per RBI, on examination of PPBL's application for issue of final Certificate of Authorisation (CoA), it was observed that it had submitted information which did not reflect the factual postion.

Senior bureaucrats Meera Mohanty and Ritesh Chauhan have been appointed as the joint secretary in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) and the chief executive officer of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana respectively as part of a bureaucratic reshuffle effected by the Centre.

The Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana launched on 18 February 2016.

Indian Army team wins Gold at military patrol exercise in UK

The Indian Army, represented by 4/5 Gorkha Rifles (Frontier Force), bagged the coveted Gold medal at exercises in the UK dubbed the "Olympics of Military Patrolling".

The Indian team was among only three out of 96 participating teams in the Exercise Cambrian Patrol 2021 at Brecon in Wales to win the Gold medal.

Former hockey international Saranjeet Singh has passed away in Hyderabad.

He was 59 and is survived by his wife, daughter and son.

The former State Bank of India hockey player, who played for Coronation Club in local league, represented Hyderabad juniors and seniors for many years in the late 70s and 80s and also played for India, which toured Germany in 1983.

Nebra Sky Disc: The oldest map of stars that will be displayed at British Museum

The British Museum in London will display an ancient object called the Nebra Sky Disc, which is thought to be the world’s oldest concrete depiction of stars.

The object is being loaned to the museum by Germany’s State Museum of Prehistory in Halle that owns it and will be showcased as part of an exhibition on Stonehenge, which will open in February 2022.
