IndiGrid to acquire 100% stake in Khargone Transmission for Rs 1497 crore

India Grid Trust will acquire a 100 per equity stake in Khargone Transmission at an enterprise value of about Rs 1,497.5 crore. The acquisition will be for a cash consideration of an enterprise value not exceeding Rs 1,497. 5 crore. The Khargone Transmission was incorporated on November 28, 2015. The transmission project was awarded by the Ministry of Power for 35 years.

Fifth Scorpene submarine INS Vagir joins the Indian Navy's fleet

INS Vagir, the fifth of six Scorpene (Scorpion in French) submarines being built by Mazagon Docks, Mumbai, was commissioned into the Indian Navy. Project 75 is Ministry of Defence code-name for the construction of six Scorpene submarines in MDL with technology supplied by French shipbuilder, Naval Group. Project 75 delivered its first submarine, INS Kalvari, in Dec 2017.

RBI asks SBM Bank (India) to stop transactions under LRS

The Reserve Bank of India has asked SBM Bank (India), the Indian subsidiary of State Bank of Mauritius (SMB), to immediately stop transactions under the Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS) until further notice. The banking regulator in a statement said the action was based on certain material supervisory concerns observed in the bank.

RBI extends deadline for renewal of agreements for existing safe deposit lockers in a phased manner by 31st December 2023

The Reserve Bank of India has extended the deadline for renewal of agreements for the existing safe deposit lockers in a phased manner by the 31st of December 2023. The RBI said banks will have to complete the process of renewal of agreements in a phased manner and asked them to unfreeze lockers that may have been frozen due to non-renewal of agreement.

SBI has partnered with MMRDA for providing NCMC based ticketing solution for the recently commissioned Mumbai metro lines.

The Acquiring solution will be provided through SBI Payments, the merchant acquiring subsidiary of SBI. It will facilitate seamless commuting experience through an array of digital payments including NCMC (National Common Mobility Card), QR and PoS.

NARCL acquires first stressed account from IDBI Bank-led lenders

Lenders led by IDBI Bank, have transferred the first large stressed account to the National Asset Reconstruction Company (NARCL). The bad loan transferred to NARCL, or bad bank, is Jaypee Infratech, which was among the 12 large accounts referred by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to the National Company Law tribunal (NCLT) in 2017.

Jnanpith awardee Nilmani Phookan passes away

Jnanpith awardee and eminent Assamese litterateur Nilmani Phookan died.

Kavya Rishi Phookan received the Jnanpith award for the year 2021 for his overall contribution to the field of literature.

He is the third recipient of the Jnanpith award in Assam after Birendranath Bhattacharya and Mamoni (Indira) Raisom Goswami.
