Novak Djokovic wins 24th Grand Slam singles title at 2023 US Open

Novak Djokovic handled the weight of history to defeat Daniil Medvedev in the 2023 US Open men's singles final. With a 6-3, 7-6(5), 6-3 victory, the 36-year-old won his 24th Grand Slam singles title.

Djokovic is now the first man to win three Grand Slams singles titles in a season four times (2011, 2015, 2021, 2023).

NSE to launch options on WTI crude oil futures and natural gas futures contracts

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) has received approval from the SEBI to launch options (on futures) on NYMEX WTI Crude Oil and Natural Gas futures contracts in its commodity derivatives segment.

Earlier, NSE introduced rupee-denominated futures contracts for NYMEX WTI Crude Oil and Natural Gas within its commodity derivatives segment on May 15, 2023.

SEBI implements online payment system for Investor Protection and Education Fund replacing payment via demand drafts

Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has implemented an online payment mechanism for its Investor Protection and Education Fund (IPEF) to streamline the payment process and improve accessibility for all contributors to the fund.

Intermediaries can conveniently make payments to IPEF using various online payment methods such as NEFT, RTGS, UPI, and net banking.

RBI likely to launch digital rupee pilot for interbank transactions by October, 2023

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to launch the pilot of Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) for transactions for interbank borrowing or call money market by this October.

In November 2022, the pilot of the wholesale CBDC or Digital Rupee-Wholesale (e-W) was launched with the use case being limited to the settlement of secondary market transactions in government securities.

G20 Declaration: Members agree not to impose export curbs in agri, food, fertilisers

The G20 leaders have committed to facilitate "open, fair, predictable, and rules-based" trade in agriculture, food, and fertilizers and not impose export curbs in line with relevant WTO rules.

Adopting the New Delhi Declaration of G20, the member countries aralso committed to supporting developing countries' efforts and capacities to address their food security challenges.

PM pays homage to Acharya Vinoba Bhave on his birth anniversary

Acharya Vinoba Bhave was born on 11 September 1895 in Maharashtra. He was an Indian advocate of nonviolence and human rights.

Often called Acharya (Teacher in Sanskrit), he is best known for the Bhoodan Movement. He is also considered as National Teacher of India and the spiritual successor of Mahatma Gandhi. 

The Gita has been translated into the Marathi language by him.

DFC approves up to $ 425 million for Tata Power Renewable Energy project

The US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) has approved a financial aid of up to USD 425 million (Rs 3,521 crore) to Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd for setting up a 4.3 GW solar cell in Tamil Nadu by its subsidiary.

The U.S. DFC basically partners with the private sector to finance solutions to the most critical challenges facing the developing world today.
