Cabinet nod to Patanjali's food park in Greater Noida

UP government gave its nod to Patanjali Ayurveda Pvt Ltd to transfer its land to its subsidiary company in Greater Noida for setting up a Rs 6,000-crore mega food park.

The company had proposed to invest up to Rs 6,000 crore to set up a plant over 425 acres of land along the Yamuna Expressway through its step-down firm Patanjali Food and Herbal Park.

Patanjali is presently investing in mega food park projects, including those in Nagpur (Maharashtra) and Tezpur (Assam).

US pulls out of UN Human Rights Council for “being biased against Israel”

The United States announced it was leaving the United Nations’ Human Rights Council, with Ambassador Nikki Haley calling it “an organization that is not worthy of its name.”

Since January 2017 US has announced its withdrawal from the Paris climate accord, left the U.N. educational and cultural organization and pulled out of the Iran nuclear deal.

National Digital Library will have 1.7 crore books in 200 languages

The Union Human Resource Development Minister, Shri Prakash Javadekar launched ‘National Digital Library of India’ on the occasion of National Reading Day.

This National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a project of the Ministry of HRD under the aegis of National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT).

The objective of NDL is to make digital educational resources available to all citizens of the country to empower, inspire and encourage learning.

NDL will have 1,70,00,000 books in 200 languages.

NDLI is developed by IIT Kharagpur.

Users can register for the NDL for free from the Google Playstore.

Punjab govt offers free saplings through mobile app

To increase the state's green cover, the Punjab government launched a smartphone application that lets users order free plant saplings.

The 'i-Hariyali' app under 'Mission Tandarust' can be downloaded from the app store for free.

The users can book a sapling of their choice, a maximum of 25 per person, from a nearby government nursery.

Brokerages tip Bakhshi as next CEO of ICICI Bank

Sandeep Bakhshi, who is seen as the stand-in chief executive of ICICI Bank, may well end up succeeding MD & CEO Chanda Kochhar.

ICICI Bank appointed Mr. Bakhshi as chief operating officer and whole-time director for five years.

A mechanical engineer with a post-graduate degree in management, Mr. Bakhshi earlier headed ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company.

Renowned mimicry artist Venu Madhav is no more

Nerella Venu Madhav, world renowned mimicry artiste who carved a niche for himself in the field has died.

He was nominated as MLC by former Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao in 1971.

He was conferred Kala Prapurna title by the Andhra University in 1978 and was awarded Padma Sri by the Central Government in 2001.

The veteran mimicry artiste was born on December 28 in 1932 in Mattewada, Warangal. He began his passion – mimicry at the age of 15 in 1947.

Rare spider found again after 150 years

Scientists rediscovered after 150 years a rare species of spider, which was believed have become extinct, from Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary (WWS) located in the Western Ghats region of Kerala.

The spider belonged to the family of jumping spiders (Salticidae) and scientifically named as Chrysilla volupes.

World famous Arachnologist Dr. Ferdinand Anton France Karsch of Berlin Zoological Museum, Germany, had described the inventory of a species of spider from Periyej Lake in Gujarat in 1868. But subsequently it had vanished.

Oldest Sumatran orangutan dead at 62

The world’s oldest Sumatran orangutan, which had 11 children and 54 descendants spread across the globe, has died aged 62.

Puan- Indonesian for “lady” - died at Perth Zoo, where she had lived since being gifted by Malaysia in 1968.

Puan born in 1956, was noted by the Guinness Book of Records as being the oldest verified Sumatran orangutan in the world.
Female orangutans rarely live beyond 50 in the wild.
The Orangutans are three extant species of great apes native to Indonesia and Malaysia.

‘Rani Rashmoni’ commissioned

The last of the five Fast Patrol Vessel (FPV) project of Indian Coast Guard ‘Rani Rashmoni’ was commissioned into the Indian Coast Guard.

Four such ships such as ICGS Rani Abbakka, ICGS Rani Avanti Bai, ICGS Rani Durgavati and ICGS Rani Gaidinliu, have been commissioned and are in active service at various locations on the eastern seaboard.

The IT-based web/mobile application is a revolution in data collection as it saves hundreds of man hours for SCRB personnel.

i-App cloud is now helping the police access the entire information of crimes under various IPC sections.

i-App provides comparative analytics of gender violence, bodily offences and property offences in each unit, range, region and State using data charts.
