The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, launched the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. The first instalment of Rs 2,000 was directly credited to the bank accounts of over 1 crore beneficiary farmers.
Gorakhpur is located along the banks of the Rapti river.

In the 33rd GST Council meeting, GST rate on under-construction properties in normal category cut down to 5 per cent from the earlier 12 per cent. The GST Council has also reduced GST rate for affordable housing to 1 per cent from the earlier 8 per cent.
The revised GST rates will come into effect from April 1, 2019.
